detents?

hello, could anyone explain to me what detents are? ive seen them advertised alot on the classifieds but i have no idea what they are, im just trying to learn, thank you very much

They are the bits either side of your marker that keep the ball in the breach and stop it rolling down the barrel.

Quite often are spring loaded.
