Demented Update

I figured since some of my old English buddies were interested in how my team was doing in Las Vegas, I would post about Chicago. Unfortunately I am not there because I am broke (Am I ever going to get paid Duff ) but I do get updates.

So.. So far we are sitting with 2 wins and 2 loses smacking us in 19th place right now going into the afternoon session.

Psycho Circus- 95

Dynasty- 15. Actually had the game won, but after Olle Lang got mugged hard by one of my guys, he shot one of my other guys out and lost a crucial position turning the game around. Supposedly the crowd was boo'ing and yelling at Dynasty for cheating. It is cool, because we tooki it to them and they knew it.

Reckless Rebels- 9. From what I heard, we just played like ass in this game. No excuse.

Well, didn't come close. Dropped 3 of 4 today. No biggie, played some tough teams and once again beat 2 of the teams going through and had the second best score at Dynasty of anyone in the prelims.

I've got three different stories from three different Demented players, but this is all I know... the video is taken from Dynasty's end of the field, so it's difficult to make out when Lang gets hit initially ('cause the camera's behind him), but you can clearly make out Lang running up the tape-line on a killing spree, going down into a bunker with his gun down, turning into the center fifty, and popping the guy with paint on his (Lang's) goggles... so yeah, he atleast took one extra guy with him.

We lost all four Friday then won all four Saturday ending with a nice upset of Tippmann Effect. Alas, we missed the cut by seventy points(ish) due to my poor field set-up for the crummy Evil field. It was our main field, and thanks to Paul, I changed it up a bit and we finally got a win on the friggin' thing Saturday. I suck. Oh yeah, we actually tied Paul's team for, uh, whatever we are in the standings... wee-hoo.

The event was a notch under Vegas. I hate to write everything here since Pete and Paul were already covering it... so maybe I'll just write about a couple things ...

The good:
1. I felt the reffing was better than Vegas, the ref's seemed to be using more common sense regarding one for one's, and they were, as usual, hustling in and out for calls.

The bad:
1. I think I was in the minority as far as my opinin of the reffing, and you did still have to get the field rules from the starting judge as the rules changed depending on which field you were playing.
2. They ran out of friggin' fruit by Saturday.

The ugly:
1. I know of atleast two games where a team hung their own flag on the opposition's flag station. One of those was after the guy pulled a quality dead-man's-walk.
2. The most obvious, the screw-up knocking Nexus out of finals.

No, I don't consider this a step forward for the series, although I bet NY will set things straight.

Not to be defeatist or anything, but I'm thinking it wouldn't do a lot of good.

The thing that cracks me up about my team, is that we play freaking awesome against the good teams and beat most of them, and then we lose to scrubs. Odd very odd.
