Ok sorry here's another Shocker question, probably one for Bruce, but if anybody else get's here first then so be it. I'm looking at upgarding my standard bolt to a New Designz Delrin one, I've seen one on pbreview that doesn't have all the holes in, but 3 curved cut out's. Apparenly it does the following:

1. Improves gas efficiency slighty (This guy reckons by about 300 shots more)

2. Improves the guns cycle rate

3. Because Delrin is self lubing, no dow is required (apart from the seals) so you don't get Dow Grease splatter down your barrel.

4. The Delrin reduces wear on the inside of the gun.

5. Increases gas consistancy over the chrono.

Is all this true and where in the UK can I get one from. Oh and one last point, the down sides to the bolt are apparently if you do lube up the bolt it is prone to swelling, and also the bolt might make the gun less accurate.

Here's the link if your interested:

Okay, I'll try. Haven't got a Shocker, but this more or less goes for all markers.

1) Could be. Bigger porting in your bolt usually means that you can lower the pressure slighty. But 300 shots sounds like a whole lot from just a new bolt. I doubt it's that many.

2) Probably. The bolt will be lighter, therefore it can travel back and forth faster.

3) True. As for the swelling, that's also true. Don't get any lube on it.

4) Not too sure about that. Look in the breach of an Angel, and you will see some marks in there. An all metal bolt will wear down your marker quickly, but this is usually offset by the presence of some o-rings, which are normally the only parts of the bolt to actually rub against the inside of the body.

5) No clue.

6) There is no 6.

The less accurate thing contradicts with the improved consistency. When using the same paint and the same barrel, consistency equals accuracy.

Hope this helped somewhat.

Not sure about Shockers, but I know that you really need to change the hammer at the same time on an Impulse if you get a Delrin bolt, something to do with the weight.

i have dropped you an Email but will also answer the questions here for everybodys benifit

1) A Delrin bolt will improve efficiency, due to being lighter less pressure is required to cycle it. So the operating pressure drops still allowing for the required FPS (mine runs at 290/295 at 170psi) i doubt it would be 30% but it will help.

2) As above lighter so can cycle quicker

3) Yes. no need to lube the bolt, other than slightly on the seals which will stop grease in the barrel

4) Again the standard bolt is alu running inside a alu gun body, if you check the inside you will see some wear already from your current bolt. The Delrin one will stop this.

5) All good bolts will give you good consistancy, but a good paint to barrel choice will be the ultimate decider

The swelling only happens if you really smear the bolt with Dow and leave it for days, i find no difference in accuracy but again thats down to Barrel and paint choice

HTH

cheers
