Hi,
recently we have had a run of players having problems connecting to our fill rig, this is due to the fill nipples distorting out of shape and having burs on the edges, the only way to cure this is changing the nipple when it wears, our fittings are stainless steel and will not wear to fit you marker, they are standard fittings from WDP, check your markers for wear and carry a spare nipple with you just in case.
fileing nipples is not good as you have no way of checking the profile afterwards and you may get away with it but eventually it will not connect properly and blow off under pressure and it definatly damages our fill rig, currently costs to us are about £70 per event in damaged fittings by people forcing the marker onto the connection.
Anyway we will see you at the next event, for us the MM and SWPL this weekend.

filing your nipples...my God! Sounds like something Jose would do...

on the serious side, this is becoming a major issue and I strongly urge everyone to consider the dangers of poorly serviced or worn equipment...

4,500psi is dangerous if not handled correctly, there's no two ways of looking at it. Listen to the H-PAC guys and aside from the damage to the fill rig you could save yourself a lot of grief. I was 2 inches away from losing an eye two years ago because of a damaged fill nipple...I won't make that bloody mistake again...

Just me being new to air and not 100% hot on the subject, as I'm sure a few others are, if we ask you dead nicely would you be able to show us what to look for? or are we just looking for obvious holes and dints?

And also it would be worth letting people know where they can buy the replacement nipples from?

Trevor, sorry I may have misunderstood your post, are you saying replacement nipples can be bought from WDP? Or do HPAC have them?

John - I think it usually shows by looking at the fill nipple on your bottle and if it shows any obvious signs of wear (e.g. mishaped on any of the sides as you look at it) then it runs the risk of not being held in place 100% by the ball bearings/collar on the air feed tube - you should then empty your bottle of air and fit a new fill nipple.

Can the HPAC guys supply replacment Nipples that we can buy at MM events, or have fitted for a small charge by your good selves?

Also would it be worth putting an additional coloured sticker on everyone's bottle when you have checked their bottle nipple? Stops getting your fittings ruined then...?

Yup just make sure the bottles EMPTY, use an adjustable and remove the old nipple. Bit of loctite on the new nipple and use the adjustable again and screw it in tight. Had to do mine at STB, 5 minute job it is. But make sure you emty your bottle first or someones gonna get hurt.
