Dear paintballers and friends of the sport!

My name is James Riley and I play for a team in the London area called Samurai MV – what’s this all about you ask?
If you kindly give me 3 minutes of your time.

I would like to start with a big “Thank you” to Robbo and the “P8nt” team for giving us the opportunity to post this on the forum, since this clearly is the #1 “place to be” to reach out to as many ballers and people involved in the sport we all love.

So who are we and what is this about?
“Samurai MV” is one of currently 5 teams of Samurai Paintball, that initially formed in 2005. The team was set up in honor and memory of Martin Vipas, a friend and team mate who sadly left us in March 2007. Martin suffered from Cystic Fibrosis, an illness which affects the internal organs, especially the lungs and digestive system, by clogging them with a thick sticky mucus which makes it hard to breathe and digest food. Martin never let that impede a full and active life. He was genuinely one of the kindest and most helpful people we ever had the fortune to meet and play alongside. Martin is missed and we would like to commemorate his 5 year anniversary by dedicating the 2012 season to him and raising money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust – which the Samurai Paintball Family have been supporting since 2007.

What is so different about 2012 then?
Besides participating in the CPPS and Millennium Series in the 2012 season, it is our goal to promote our charity at the events, working with our sponsors to find people that would like to help by either donating to the CF Trust or to support us in spreading the word during our tour – our target for 2012 is raising a total of £ 30,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

What are we doing to achieve our 2012 fundraising target?
Besides the link we are posting here we will:

· Send press releases to attract attention to our plans (national media where the events will take place (i.e France, Germany and UK))
· Hand out flyers at the events and collect money with our sponsors @ their stands with collection boxes
· Organize Walk-on Weekends “Paintball for Charity – Help us battle Cystic Fibrosis” @ Bricketwood (dates TBC) - 100% of the green fee will go to the CF Trust
· Auction off some gear @ the end of the season

So as you can see – there is lots going on.

So what can you do and help?
In short – spread the news! If you or your team, company, family, friends would like to get involved, support, or just wish us luck, feel free to contact us directly, everything we are doing is out of our own pockets and personal time - any contact into the media world or help to get the word out is very much appreciated.

You don’t want to wait until one of the events – so how can you donate immediately?
You can either do it ONLINE: Just go on our JustGiving-Page: www.justgiving.com/samuraimv2012
Or
You can do it with your MOBILE PHONE: Just send a “free” text message on your mobile to the number “70070” with the message “Samu99 £10” for £10 donation – or change the amount to any other amount you feel comfortable donating – the donation will then be billed to your mobile phone … simple and easy, no credit or debit card needed.

Is there a way that you can stay up to date with what we are doing?
There sure is … If you want to follow us on our journey and see how we progress in the season and on our fundraising this year, just come over and check out our Facebook page or Blog.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and for your support.

Since the year is 1/2 way over - I wanted to bump this thread with some news.

Thanks to all of our sponsors, CPPS, Millennium Series. PPL and people that made donations over the last 6 months we have raised a over £ 1.600 - although this is really a great number already, we are aiming for a much higher amount by end of the year.

We are planning a few more events and you will find opportunities to donate and attend in the coming months.

Thanks for everything so far and see you all in Basildon!
