I bought an Etek 1 off the forum for a friend as his first gun and had quite a few problems with it.

When we first tried it out it wouldn't dial up above 200 FPS.

Followed the servicing video and found a couple of problems with it. Checked out the reg and it was full of grease rather than oiled and the shim were all in the same way round, sorted that problem out and it moved up to 240

Decided to check it out from start to finish so swapped the oops with one from an old timmy and it jumped up to 280.

Couple of questions.

What in the oops could be restricting the gas flow enough to drop the velocity by 40 FPS? It just seems to be a pin in a sleave to me.

and

Could the fact the reg had thick grease in it have caused any other problems?

Cheers

Hi Andy

Alot of people use grease or some kind of lube in the regs, best thing to do is clean it off completely and start a fresh like it seems you have.

Check all the low pressure hoses for leaks etc.

Also put a new battery in it and check the dwell.

i would say set the dwell at around 12 - 12.5

try these things first mate , Maybe change the elbow on the oops if you think it could be full of grease .

Bit of an update.

We've stripped and cleaned absolutely everything and relubed it, reg, solenoid and the whole works following the videos. Reset the guns board to factory defaults.

We did find another issue, the solenoid wires had been trapped and stripped at some point and taped up.

Still using a different oops on it and the guns FPS is now jumping around like a lunatic. flails around by 80 FPS from 260 upto 340.

Anything else left for us to try? before we take it into eclipse to be checked and present the seller with the option of paying for it to be fixed or giving us our money back?
