i've never had a problem with my ultralight before until i took it off last to clean it. when i was putting it back on it felt real tight so i stopped turning it, took it off and tried again. this went on a couple of times until i got real p*ssed off and left it alone.

i think the thread on the cocker body is starting to cross thread though how i havent got a clue cos i've always been really careful taking the barrel off and putting it back on.

any ideas of how i can get this fixed?

the damaged thread isn't more than a turn so i was thinking of taking it to a workshop or something and getting the first turn of the thread ground down and smoothed out.

any views on this would be much appreciated.

thanks guys

Try another barrel and see if you have the same problem. At least then you will know if it is the barrel or the body thats at fault.

If it turns out to be the body just try and take a pin and clean the threads of the body with it. Sometimes a bit of dirt or grease can be wedged in there and cause the problem :)

Not being funny but have you tried other barrels? or can you actually see the thread on the marker is bent?

I would have thought the barrel thread would be purposefully weaker than the marker so that if you do manage to cross-thread something it will be the barrel rather than the gun.

edit: damn you parksy and your ninja skillz :D got there before me

yeah - ive tried my mate's freak barrel on it and it doesnt screw on either. you can see where the thread on the barrel has been scratched.

i cleaned both threads too, on the body and barrel but it still wont screw on

try turning it the wrong way into the barrel because you should find the right track for it to fall into and not the cross threaded one...then turn it the right way.

You shoouls always turn threads the wrong way first to get them seated before doing them up...
If you can, have a go at cleaning the thread up, all you need to do, is make sure, there is room for the other part to thread in to, maybe use a small needle file, or similar, to clean it up...or...you could use a steel barrel, with some wax on the thread, and carefully work it back and forth and this will clean the thread up.

or another thing to try once you start the thread, whilst their is play back and forth on the barrel, see if its easier to screw it in whilst putting pressure on the the barrel or by slightly pulling it out, i had this same issue with a cocker the first time i screwed the barrel in

sounds to me like you may have got a bit of gunk or shell or something in the thread.......

clean the barrel threads and then clean out the thread on the marker

have a good scrub in there with a tooth brush and some water .....careful if your cocker is electro...then get it bone dry with some cotton wool

then try the barrel again....is it a new barrel or has it been on/off there a load of times before?

ive had fittings that were brand new that refused to screw in and that was solved with a dab of grease to stop em binding

what ever you do dont force it on, if you arnt getting anywhere after its had a good clean out...take it to a tech to look at...planet or belsales would be my best advise, thou it could be bad news
if the threads are goosed it may be poss to get em recut depending on how bad it is and if you can find someone to do the work
