Well what can I say for yesterday?

Event was brilliant! Refs on The Div2 and the elite field were spot on all day! had no complaints about anything from the 4 teams Warped had in! The jobs the refs do is a horrible one! and its there so we can enjoy our day!
I can be a hot head at times and got penalised yesterday for dead man talking! annoyed with myself was a understatement and thought the decision was harsh! BUT it wasn't and the refs were consistent with there calls and i saw a few others pulled for the same offence! had a call against me for rub aswell but its one of them they have to call what they see, All i like is consistency in there calls! and you can see this across the board! So top job to all the refs!

Site looked brilliant again! Some of the games on the elite field were intense and brilliant to watch! the level of the top teams looks to be improving all the team :) Hopefully some big results coming in Bitburg for the uk teams out there!

From all of us at Lethal Formula, want to say thanks to cpps and ainsley for another great event, thanks to celtic for the trophy and prizes (the hats a bit tight mind.) and as always asylum paintball for there help.
all the teams we played gave us a challenge and made exciting matches. especially the final against chimera.
had no problems with refs but seeing as we won i probably would say that. :)
see you all at round 3.

I have to say yet another thanks to Ainsley and the OKPB crew for putting on such an event and for letting me film!

A huge difference in the weather, but it was nice to be able to walk around without the need for wellies - a great job on the site, again.

Few things to work on and improve we feel:

Sign in......we're looking at doing a fast track in the morning for teams that have pre-paid for the season to speed the whole registration process up. We were unfortunate with the weather this round that resulted in us taking down all of our staging tents on Saturday evening as well as letting down a lot of our fields/dropping the netting. We were back on it at 5.30, but as you can imagine with the size of staging and a limited crew, we did our best to get the gates open at 8am.

Hopefully the next round will bring us better weather and we can leave up our tents on the Saturday evening, which will then allow us to do our work on the Saturday evening, and we can then let teams in immediately on arrival. If not, it's just taught us that we need to get up at 4am instead ;)

We are going to extend the trade area to make more space all round and look to improve the catering even further. Our own "tuck shop" shall be open both days at the next event, allowing players the essentials without the wait that you sometimes get at the catering tent around lunch time.

Car parking......due to a equestrian event on the adjacent field, we were unable to use some of that field for extra parking this weekend, however, the next round is all clear, so any overflow will be placed on there. Even being a wet event this time, the ground help up really well across the site/car park, which just goes to show our huge investment in drainage has paid off.

The Breakout division was a great success and it was awesome to see new teams to supair take to the field. Really good atmosphere, the refs/staff really enjoyed it, and Danny Green from my own team really enjoyed giving them a free clinic after the event. We'll be looking to promote this further and allow new teams a friendly and non intimidating way into our sport. Watch this space!

huge props to all the work on the ground and the facilities. Despite the weather there were no problems anywhere on site with mud or such. Refs done a fantastic job as always with the exception of just a couple of issues which is unfortunately part of any event. Maybe seemed not quite as consistent with calls as the first round (especially penalties for operating gun buttons on field, hands on head, starting in front of the line/on astro turf etc) but overall the games were dictated by the ability of teams and not the quality of refs which is the way it should be.
Trade area looked awesome (DLX tent was sick!), need to stop being such a poor student and get the chance to splash out on the trade stands and catering over the summer :D
would just like to ask about the use of the wristbands that are issued at the start of the day. I appreciate that people are constantly running in and out of the pits, but if they aren't going to be consistently checked to make sure its authorised persons only in the pits (i assume this is their purpose?) then i suppose you could just leave them out? its not an issue at all but just wondering what the point of them is :p

Second event and loved it. Although the rain is a pain the pit staging now being covered, decent tables and the hardcore (gravel) made a world of difference and completely changed the experience from when it rained last year and you were always at risk of slipping on your arse when you moved through the pits. AstroTurf on the start gates was also a bonus. Fast track entry is a great idea and I agree with the above comments about wristbands. Saw people in the pits without them and never checked as a player so I am questioning their value as they must cost something to produce. However, as Ainsley always says, the event is evolving and it is possible that this may be changed in the future and become stricter and they may just be getting us used to always having them on so they can clamp down on it later when they have addressed more pressing issues. I am sure Ainsley will provide a definitive answer on their use in due time. Glad to have attended, appreciate the effort of everyone involved (including the other teams) and will definitely be back for the next event.

A big thanks again!!! The Event was great, and it coped with the weather too!!!!

Only one thing )I would like to bring up.

A lot of teams struggled with the start bleep on the div 2/3 field and a bit in the final field. Sometimes refs bringing arms down before the final SMALL Beep, and on the finals field the buzzer seemed to be not directly linked to the timer hitting zero? I know in one final games there must of been at least a second / second 1/2 between zero and the buzzer going off???? Are the two linked?
maybe whistles, air horns, a louder beep for game on could be used that also won't conflict with adjacent fields.

It needs to be clear, it just felt like a lot of 'false starts' continued to happen.

But other than that it was awesome!!!!

Looking forward to round 3!!!!!

Hi Stunt. Ill answer both your questions as well as I can.

The Elite field is run using the Dye scoreboard setup and scoreboard software. The sounders, point concede buttons, digital scoreboard are all linked and controlled via the Dye scoreboard software on the scorers laptop. I haven't seen the error you described and ill setup the entire system his week and do a test to see if I can replicate what you are seeing.

The Div2/3 and Div1 fields both used the same sound file we had specially engineered by a sound specialist to get the best results out of our setup. Now.... I did notice at training on Saturday some teams struggled with getting used to it. The exact countdown was thus....

Double beep at 60 seconds... Triple beep at 30 seconds... Double beep at 10... 4 short beeps 4,3,2,1, Long beep was GO.

This has already been changed. We've altered the type of beep (pitch) and changed the sound of the game on beep to differ from the countdown beeps. We will be testing it in training before round 3 and I stress its in your interest to get your players accustomed to it.

Hiya,

Thank you for a great Sunday event.

I don't know if any one else has noticed this but on the div 5 field when you chrono at the chrono area, and set your marker up at 280ish the virtue chrono's were showing a higher reading and a guy had his geo 3 set at 10.5 but the chrono was showing 10.6.

There was one false start on the div 5 field where the div 3 blew a whistle to start which caused 5 to also start. Any chance a horn could be used on the 5 field please.

A great event and can't wait to round 3

This is going to sound reaaaallllyyy stupid, but were you meant to go at the start or the end of the long beep? (div 2/3 field) Sorry, it's just we were told the start by the ultimate, and that's what we stuck to, but a lot of other teams were telling us that we were going too early... Couple that in with ref arm signals and opposing teams waiting for the end of the 'long beep' and I pretty much started most points looking at the closest ref to see if I'd gone too early or not! Still think it's a great thing to have, just wanted a bit of clarity! :) thanks!
