Am I the only one who thought the finals were a good deal less exiting than Marseille?

I mean - not the games in themselves (even if they were too to some extent).... but the whole lack of atmosphere?

I say bring back Marcus as commentator - in Marseille he kept everyone interested and entertained in the periods that would otherwise have been dull, and also did running commentary that was mostly funny and occasionally insightfull - whereas in Germany we had some german guy speaking "local" in a voice that sounded like he was reading the obituaries, conveying little else than who was playing and the score - which was pretty redundant to most spectators.

It actually occured to me in Bitburg, how boring paintball can be to watch, even for us die hard fans, when it is not staged right....

I would also recommend letting the top 2 in Div. 2 and maybe even M5 duke it out on the CPL field, so that we don't have so many waiting periods between CPL and Div. 1 games.

From a spectator's view, Bitburg CPL was boring compared to Marseille. The field played much slower than the Marseille CPL field, the stands were too far from the field to get a reasonable view (and were only facing one end of the field) and there was almost no commentary at all that I heard. It looked a lot like the bad old days of 7-man finals, just more games and fewer players on the field at a time.

The only way we could make it seem exciting was to spend the time between points watching Outrage run 6 games in a row to full time (3 semi, 3 finals) to win Div 3 ;)

Oh, and where were the cheerleaders?

I think the general atmosphere of the event was ok. I do think that more hype was needed during the finals. Just introducing the teams and getting the crowd whipped up would have helped.

I also think that the prize giving was a little bit of a last minute thing. Pom Pom girls or boys here would have been a good addition.

Thanks to Frank and Magued ensuring that I got covered with alcohol by dragging me up onto the podium.

In short I think Bitburg was the best yet with German efficiency ensuring the clock never ran out, but there was no mini tornados this time.
