copyright infringement on new style ir3 trigger?

Hmm, not really sure where to post this...

Ok, been looking for a long time for a blade trigger for my iR3. The Cobra was the obvious choice, but, God, they're like rocking horse **** - could not find one anywhere...

A friend and I both said - well, wait... It would be so straight forward to design a new blade trigger, get a low-numbers run made by a milling company - trot 'em out at 20 quid a shot.

Question is - would we have to pay a licence fee to WDP - ie; is there a copyright infringement, or can anyone make after-market parts?

I guess another question is - is there really a demand for them or is it just me being optimistic? Anyone up for one if the design rocked and the price was right?

I do get a lot of people asking about blade triggers for both lcd and ir3. But remember it's not just the shape, it's the feel of it.

yeah, I guess that's the real trick, isn't it?

Well, I don't know. I guess I've had a different experience to John C - I couldn't get hold of an iR3 trigger for love nor money that wasn't a 3 styla - but I also accept there's more to it than making a flat face on the trig.

More prototypes ahoy ;)

Bulldog, I think this'd be a worthwhile venture. I couldn't find a blade or any decent aftermarket trigger for my old IR3 for Love, money or sexual favours!! And the stock trigger is nasty and butt-ugly.

I'm surprised WDP haven't already produced one.

Good luck if you decide to go ahead with this.
