Do I care? Not really!

I just want to check with those of you out there who are, so to speak, "in the know" about the rules regarding firing modes in the UK.

Now, as far as I know, tourneys in the UK are now semi only, ie one-shot-per-pull, non of that Turrrrrrrrrbo malarky.

So, to my great suprise, when watching a video taken at the indoor, I see a shocker, being used by a player in red (that's as far as i go for identities) which sounds a little funny. I play it back, and sure enough, the sound has awakened a distant memory, yes, that bloke is using a Shocker which goes pop, pop, popopopopopopopop, pop, pop, popopopopopopop.

Bugger me, that blokes using a turrrrrrrrbo!

Either he's a cheating c&^t, or he has a slight nervous twitch problem with his fingers.

Ahem

You could be right ..however after I installed a Blade trigger on my Shocker the sound was the same as the turbo mode cos you never get the rythem right at the begining of the string of shots and you can lose the pace in the middle.
BTW the turbo was switched off, and a hyper frame would have the same result in noise.
I tried it with the Turbo switched off and on and I didn't need the Turbo even if had still been allowed, due to the trigger pull being so short.

Then again maybe the player was cheating...wouldn't take a lot to find out if he was but then the refs missed the chance to check

I think that the turbo issue is a regulatory and safety issue that basically rides on the heels of eliminating full auto. Both to me are sorta dead arguements really considering that a fast pair of fingers can really do the same thing. Yeah, turbo is unnecessary and it can be gotten around by various means. To me it's simple: keep it to yourself. If you've got a turbo board, you have a collector's item that might be useful for dumping out old paint in a more fun way than throwing it in the trash, or showing off for newbies, or as a means of convincing a potential buyer for your used gun. Other than that, give it a rest!

I think - as it was the case last year and the year before - that the Indoor is a standalone event and so kinda makes up its own rules, such as allowing turbo modes in guns. You'll need to check this with Phoenix who run the event to find out if the player was breaking any rules of the event.

wow, was I in a bad mood!

Having just re-read my post, I've got to say, oops, that came across a bit strong like.

I'd like to apologise if I upset anyone out of it, I was in a bad mood anyways (a few other things went pete tong yesterday), and this particular team had some remarkable good look in the game I played against them (which I won't go into here, for risk of pee-ing people off - email me if you truly want to know)

I'd also like to thank Mr Big for reminding me about the Indoor having it's own firing mode rules in the past, but I've just checked the rules on the pheonix site, and it definately was semi only.

Mark, it is possibly for some markers to sound like turbo's but this shocker definatley was, I've showed the video to a couple of friends, and they both thought that without me prompting them.

To be fair, it is possible that the player in question was new, and had just been given a marker to use, and didn't know what a turbo was, and the rules regarding modes, but you would have thought that marshalling as good as it was at the indoor (and it was one the best marshalled tourneys I've played), with marshals aware enough to pull players out right after the break for wearing shorts, that someone would have noticed it?

The chrono marshalls were constanly checking my marker for funny firing modes (or maybe they were just curoius as to what it could do :D ), so...

Was it last year that every marker capable of firing anything other than semi had to be inspected and tagged?

anyways, back to the real world....... :D

S'what thought..so why you guys even wondering bout this decision? Get tha player identified an his gun checked - cos one dude gets caught with a full-auto and pball in the UK goes the way of the dodo. You owe it to yo'selves to bust anyone who plays that **** man.

And HP - don't get me wrong, tight firearms laws are a good thing. Take a walk through LA at night and you'll see why...

Peace

Whilst automatic firearms are illegal, paintball markers are a bit of a grey-area leagally. Steve Bull from the UKPSF was in contact with the Home Office concerning this status but nothing was resolved. The UKPSF then issued an advisory saying that turbo and mode-fire boards should not be used.

This is pretty much a 'better safe than sorry' ruling as is clear that the only way the automatic fire mode grey-area would be resolved is if someone ended up in court (for whatever reason) because of a fully automatic marker. The court would at somepoint have to rule if markers were firearms or not. Considering the current attitude to firearms and gun-shaped things in the UK and the tight laws surronding them, if markers get listed as firearms paintball would pretty much end in the UK.

I haven't heard of a UK tournament that has not followed the advisory which is good. It was a tough call to make but the right choice was made, I feel.

If I've got my info completely arse-about-face feel free to correct me! Steve Bull will be the main person to explain what the situation is.
