When people talk of FPS consistency what is expected?
What range is considered acceptable +/- 5,etc,etc?

different guns different things mate, my old Rapper i could get +/- 2FPS all day long but id say yeh +/- 5 without spkie's will be fine

I could get +/- 2 on my old SL66 using fresh qualty paint. +/- 5 is very good,

would the barrel and paint play a part in consistancy?

I doubt markers such as the Ego would vary much outside plus or minus 1% operationally.
This of course only applies to a correctly functioning marker.

Of course there will be variance from one day to another but I am talking about operational parameters on the same day.

The variance comes in with the paint; and so, it makes much more sense to invest in quality paint than it does in forever polishing your internals laying in bed on a Saturday night.

I'm hoping consistency will improve after the next few boxes,but I'll do he usual checks/maintenance and see...

Its all about good paint.

My old IR3 used to do 289 for 10 shots in a row. When using ultra fresh skirmish blaze.
This was on a red chrono too.
