Basically as above :p looking to get a 14" for my ion but from what I've read about freaks on different pb shop sites I still don't have a clue about them. Some noob questions coming up now :p
The freak backs just allow the fronts to be used with different gats?
The different inserts do these go into the backs?(new to paintballing)
The freak fronts - am I right in saying that these make the overall length so i'd get the 14"?
Will be looking to buy one 2nd hand from the classifieds this friday just need to get my head around it all :p
Sorry for the stupid questions and thanks for reading and replying if you do ^^

1) yes, the back is paired with the correct gun
b) yes the inserts slot into the backs.
3) yes they do make the overall length.

Freak inserts go into freak backs to alter the bore and fit larger or smaller paints better.

If you change your marker you can buy a new back piece and keep all your exisiting bits.

Freak kits get a lot of hate but if you look after them they work ok.

Full freak kit is a waste of money as you will only use 2 or 3 inserts max.

Front pieces are sold quoting the entire length, so if you want a 14" barrel thats what you ask for.

Lot of haters out there, if you buy 2nd hand you should get a good deal, check the orings are ok(inserts should fit in without and wobble or slack).

Freaks are ok and quite cheap, lots of people don't like them as they are Smart Parts. Wouldn't worry about it personally.

I use a Dye ultralite , 14" length and 3 back pieces, 0.688, 0.692 and 0.695.

To be honest only the 0.692 ever gets used, the 0.688 was on it when I bought it and I have the 0.695 just in case. Never used the 0.695 or 0.688 yet though.

So you can buy a sweet barrel kit for one front and 2 back pieces.

well there are a lot of barrel kits out that some better than others but the price it quite a lot, if i was you i would get a freak Jnr the buy a few inserts and your sorted. or maybe look in the forum for a cheap back in impusle/ion thread then get a cheap front in the colour/size you need then buy a few inserts from planet for £5 each or get some off the classfieds. But the barrel kit to get depends on how much money you want to spend.

And your opinion / sponsors.

Barrel kits are all very well but 95% of the time you will shoot the same paint and use one or two inserts / backs max.

Redz peppersticks are nice, I have them, but again, don't need all the backs.

Eclipse shaft I have found very good and the 0.693 back piece covers all needs.

Evil Pipe kit, again very nice but expensive and you don't use 3 or 4 of the backs.

Freak sgive you 8 inserts from 0.681 to 0.695 but you won't need most.

Not in a team yet, starting to look for one in my area though keep meaning to ask Jim in warped if he knows any teams nearby. When I take a closer look in classfieds and make a post I'll keep my eye out for a redz peppersticks, eclipse or an evil providing they fit an ion tis all good :)
