Barrel length, bore, porting and even material it's made of will affect the flight of your paint. By how much is debatable, especially after you factor in the inconsistency of most non tourney-grade paint. Either way, you adjust the velocity to suit the equipment/paint you're using. If u find your new 16" barrel has reduced your range, increase the velocity a touch.

You have an Impulse, right? You can increase the velocity either by the vertical regulator, or by increasing the dwell. Do it in TINY increments though, because the ball-to-bore fit is much more likely to affect velocity than just the length...

Does that help? :D

he has sold his impy and got a spyder compact. :)

the main advantage with a 16" barrel is that there is more to look down, a longer barrel doesnt neciseraly make your paint more accurate (unless its an extremely short barrel compared with a decent sized one)

Yup, if anything, the length only serves better push bunkers out of the way as you come around them...
Also, if I ever get a break in my Impy, it's always in the last 2 inches or so of the barrel!

Anything between 12 and 14 seems to be more than adequate for making a marker accurate. Some play with them even shorter.
