Hi all,

I'm looking to start getting into paintball. I have been looking at a few starter markers but I just don't no what one to choose? I have looked at the tippmann 98 and the bt4 combat but can't decide.
I'm looking for something around £100-£150 that's reliable, easy to maintain and a good starter marker.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Sam

Hi mate, I think it all depends on what you want to play and how much you want to spend when playing... Forest, scenarios or maybe speed?
A speedball marker is an electronic one and some of them shoot over 20 balls per second...

Great thanks for the advice. I did have a read on the newbie section about buying a marker and I think a mix between the 2 would be better as it is more versatile. Where can I get second hand markers apart from on here of course? As most sites like ebay and such don't allow people to sell them?
Thanks again
Sam

where are you based and planning to play? do you have friends who play paintball?

seek more advice and look more into paintball first, more so the type of paintball your gonna play, if you just want to attend local site and shoot other rental players some cheap and mechanical will do the job.

for 150 you could be looking at a tippmann x7 phenom or an invert mini. depending what style takes your fancy. personally i think speedball guns are like bent pieces of pipe. usually they are better in ways but i still prefer a nice scenario marker. its all down to what you like.

not sure what you mean by a mix between the 2 types. some scenario guns can get electric or double triggers as upgrades if that helps, phenom, tm7, tm15, all bt4's to name a few.
also mini, etha and etek are commonly used for both as are affordable and good guns but to me are still tourny markers.

only guns that really are made from best of both as far as im aware anyway are tm7 tm15 dfender and the DAM

Ok then I will look more into what I will be looking to play, alt first will be just my local site as to get more of a feel for paintball but I would be looking to get better and maybe play scenarios or even tournaments in the future.
Thanks
Sam
