Right now I'm trying to figure out whether to get an bushmaster or a cocker (I'm leaning more towards bushy though) but a lot of people have told me that cockers are difficult to maintain and they spend more time using rentals because there's is never working right.

Are cockers really this tempermental? Why? Are electros like that too?

Who ever told you that does not know what the hell they are doing. If you get a cocker(which I recommend) and it works, don't screw with it(don't screw with your cocker-hahaha). People run into problems when they change parts or when they think that they can make it better. If you leave it alone it will do fine. When you want to upgrade parts(other than just a barrel or reg, etc.) then get everything that you want for the gun at one time. Take it into a pro shop or find a REAL cocker tech and pay them to put it on and time your gun. The timing is what controls how early and late in the trigger pull the sear releases, and how early and late in the pull the three way opens. Don't get a bushy. If you really want an electro get a Vision Impulse. They are one of the best guns for the money and won't chop paint because it has an electronic eye in it.

Cockers Rule(at least until I can get my angel:D )

Emerson....

Check out the Feb edition of PGI. On page 60 is an article by Ravi Chopra that explains nearly everything you need to know about Cockers. I recommend you read it, it's well worth it.

As mentioned by Eric cockers are top dollar, if you dont mess with them they are fine, and if you do want to add upgraded parts get a pro to look at it, example I got a blade trigger for my 2000 stock cocker, i got it fitted (not profesionally) then recently added an air system, after fitting the air the gun would not work, it took some top guys from RekkaBarrels ( www.rekkabarrels.com ) about an hour to sort it out the morning of a tourny. If you think you are gonna upgrade the parts then just by a non stock one eg SFL or Eclipse Cocker.

one last detail

It helps if you understand how everything works on a cocker, before you mess with it. If you like working on stuff, cockers are great. I had mine apart after the second game, fooling with everything- all you need is a good timing guide. I used Vantrepes' guide, and it is great.
