hi guys i thinkmy ball detent is broke as the ball is right inside the nut and wont come out, yet when i screw it in all the way it catches the bolt and the bolt cannot move (there is actually a slight gash on the bolt where they have come in contact). Do i need a new one as after looking at a few pics, most of the detents extend quite far into the breech and then are pushed out the way when the bolt flies forward (is this right?).

I can get pics if needed, i had to borrow a delrin bolt off a mate and that worked alright, not too sure why because i didnt adjust the detent, probably because delrin would have less friction against it...

do i need a new detent? it's a trilogy comp pretty new....

thanks

It's hard to say exactly what your problem is, that post left some ambiguity. A ball detent is nothing more than a spring-loaded ball bearing. Not sure by your description if yours is malfunctioning, or just acting like a normal ball detent (the ball bearing doesn't come out on most ball detents, unless they're rebuildable. You should notice some give to the ball bearing if you push on it). Some ball detents, especially on 'cockers, extend a little far into the body of the marker, and hang up the bolt. The easiest solution I've come up with is putting a thick O-ring on the detent, so it can't screw as far into the body. If the ball bearing is actually stuck, as in not moving, or giving under pressure, then you just need to slap a new one on.

ah thanks mate, i think that's it, the ball won't move at all. Will i be able to get one at the CC? Will i need to take the marker along or can i get away with just the old detent?

That may or may not work, I'd just grab a new one. Just ask at any shop for a 'cocker detent and they should be able to get you one. Sorry for the delayed post, I'm sure you were able to find one at CC anyway.
