CO2 Filling

Yo,

Currently me and some friends are playing on a home-made field on private land.

We have to drive ~40mins to re-fill our CO2 cannisters and would like to find a longer term alternative.

What's the best way to go about obtaining CO2 + adapter to use privately? What safety guidelines should be followed when using such devices? Any links or advise as to what and where to purchase would be appreciated too.

We have 6-8 players, won't be playing much more this year/season, but want to be playing more regular next summer...

I'm not sure on the capacity of the bottle, it may be 45 litres, but it's around 5' tall.

You will also need a set of digital scales as you need to fill the bottle to a specific weight (mine were 20 oz bottles was advised only to fill to 18 oz ) co2 will expand and contract depending on temperature I also happen to have both these items in the shed that I dont really use If your intrested ill get a pick up for you

Hi mate, unless you know what you're doing you really dont want to mess about filling your own tanks. I would suggest that you get in touch with BOC/air products to discuss as they are your best point of call and may be able to give safety advice. They rent bottles in various sizes but given the costs unless you're using it regularly the rental fees will cost more than travelling and you may need a trade account.You will also need bottles with a liquid off take in order to be able to fill bottles. I dont think the little ones for pubs have dip tubes to pull out the liquid CO2 and would only give limited fills anyway.

to be honest you would all be better at looking at moving away from co2 onto compressed air instead of faffing around with co2 cylinders, fill rigs and the health and safety that goes with them.

Boc for example will charge you a £200 upfront rental on a cylinder which is refunded at the close of the account and also rental on the cylinder plus the cost of the co2 and also a £10-15.00 admin charge every time you pick a bottle up.

as far as health and safety goes its advisable to wear hearing protection as when venting the co2 to fill the noise will reach over 100db. They are loud and could quite likely upset your neightbours if filling at home. full suitable clothing and gloves due to the cold temperatures that the bottles reach. filling is reccomended in well ventalated areas as well.

The bottles need to be stored securely when in storage and you would ideally have to let your household (or wherever stored) insurance company know which would probably put your premium up in case of accident,

For ease I would reccomend you all go out and buy 3000psi 0.8L air bottles and a couple of dive tanks between you and you all take an air course through someone like hpac or one of the many other sites who run these. Steve Bull would be able to adivse you this.

Its easier cheaper and safer. You will also find compressed air is better on the guns without the wear on seals from the temperature change and also you wont get as many fps spikes.
