CO2 Cylinder Advice

CO2 advice

I've just called my 'local' BoC dealer to ask for prices and was told it was :
£82.72 annual rental
£22.43 per refill
£10.95 fix charge

Is this the same as all BoC dealers? Is there anywhere cheaper?

I asked for a bottle with Tip tube/Syphon stamped on the side and he was puzzled. I told him what it was for and he then asked if I wanted vapour of liquid. Also, he said he supplied some 'Paintball
groups' in Bristol and some take liquid and some take vapour.

What do I need? Your advice appreciated.

Finally, I only want this for my own personal use, I have my own paintball field and equipment that I use for friends and family only, is it worth the expenditure or should I carry on going to the local Paintball field and paying £2.00 a fill.

BOC will call it a "liquid off take" cylinder or they might refer to it as having a "dip tube" fitted. BOC ones will usually have a white stripe painted on it if it has the tube in. You will want one with liquid in, not gas. I think those prices look about right. You could try Air products for a comparative quote. Thats for a K size cylinder?

Like mac said ask for one with a "dip tube" it lets you take more liquid out of it. Invest in a set of scales so you can wiegh your bottle to make sure you got a decent fill.

Freeze your bottles before you fill them and you will get a better fill from them, saves you dumping gas from your bottles to cool them and wasting money.

You can use both bottles liquid or vapour. The liquid or dip tube bottle is the one to get, as it pulls the liquid co2 from the bottom of the bottle rather than the vapour, this gives a far better fill.

If you get a vapour bottle by mistake, or they only have these in stock, stand it upside down and "viola" you have a liquid bottle.

The rental is always charged on bottles, and is paid yearly. If you can get to Cardiff, i have a liquid bottle for sale, 34 kilos, K size, 5 foot tall £50.

You take it to any bottle gas supplier and they exchange it for a full one, NO RENTAL CHARGE.....

I just go in and say it's a cash sale no account. You don't have to use BOC or Air Products, there are loads of gas suppliers. Have a look in the yellow pages, there are several in Cardiff, but you may have to pre-order a liquid bottle.
I've been buying co2 for about 10 years this way without a problem. The only problem is the weight of the damb bottle, moving it around is a skill.
