im looking into this to, i think as Ellis said die and tap is the way forward, as the spikes are very mean looking, i might try and get some 2nd hand.... sweatshop.co.uk have some cheap track spikes if you wanted to try them out?

Ive seen some old adidas predator footie boots with golf spiders in, the fella die'd and tapped the threads, then araldite-d the spideres in and he said he had no problems

Make sure you get one of the tools for the spikes. If you tap and die them, it's unlikely you'll manage to get them in well enough with just your hands.

I've had a set done for the last 3 years or so, luckily my dad is a DT teacher so was able to do them and also make me a tool. Never had one fall out, and means you dont need to glue them and risk not getting them out in the future

You'll soon grow into a set of Exalts anyway Simon ;)

actually find this quite a relevant discussion, whats the best type of stud to use? i've been using astro boots for a long time purely because they are going to be a safe bet and our field is actually astro turf as well. however why are paintballers choosing the golf style spikes as opposed to moulded blades/studs?
