I was recnetly at a tourney, where I heard someone say, "the choro at the range is in the sun and your field chrono is in the shade thats why players are getting different readings"

Which chrono would be giving the most accurate answer?

Which chrono would be giving the higher readings, the one in the sun or the one in the shade.?

Is it possible that players could chrono with a hot gun, at it read okay if a) the chrono was in the sun, or b in the shade??

Or should it make no difference???

nick i cant imagine it making much difference really the chrono is measuring the velocity of the marker and really should not be affected by light intensisty

i would find it interesting if it did??
nick check out the series web site the divisions are up after 8.00 tonight

Well I would hope it made no difference at all but that would depend on the method used by the chrono to measure the speed.

as an additonall question for this thread can anyone give me the basic theory behind the working of a chrono

As I understand it...

And maybe understand is te wrong word...

They are Radar chronographs, meaning that they use the radio wave part of the electromagnetic spectrum (and thus not affected my light intensity at all). They work like those used for speed camerea's based on Dopler shift. For more info see

http://www.howstuffworks.com/radar-detector1.htm

which explians everything. So there you go
