He COULD be referring to the Tolkein Twin Towers, part of LOTR. Apparently there were some people who suggested changing the name of the 2nd Lord of the Rings film 'cause of the events last year, but that was vetoed.

I hope so - most of them seem to be based on computer games, although I'd question the merits of Medal of Honour. Presumably having played a PC game they think it would be fun to re-enact Omaha and Utah beach? I've talked to a veteran of Sword, and even though they didn't get quite the pasting of the other beaches, it sounded hellish enough to me to make me realise that what I'm doing is just playing games with paint.

Hope everyone's bought their poppies in the UK BTW. :)

Confused...

The "Twin Towers" event is inspired by the second book of the LoTR trilogy. The first part was produced in 2002 - and the third part will be produced in 2004 - at EMR Paintball Park.

Is there some other "Twin Towers" that I'm not educated about that has brought along some concern? Forgive me, for I live in Texas and perhaps may not be familiar with the regional or historical significance of this title...

The "Medals of Honor" event, while being inspired by the PC game, does not re-enact Omaha or Utah. There will be three "campaigns" over the course of the three play periods (Sat., Sat. night and Sun.). They will be 1) Algeria, North Africa; 2) Brittany, France; and 3) Siegfried Line, Germany.

Thank you.

To many people these days, the term "the Twin Towers" refers to the pair of buildings in New York destroyed by the Al Queda organisation on September 11 2001. I'm a little surprised that someone from the US didn't pick that one up!

Given the emotion thats around at the moment I'm surprised they've gone anywhere near that title.

At least they haven't chanegd the LOTR title like some people wanted.

The trilogy of Ring games was conceived, contracted and promoted in 2001, prior to the 9/11 attacks. Flyers, event patches and promotion began in May of that year. The first of the three games began as a "Special Presentation" game, not part of the "series of events" we produce. However, now that the first Ring game is completed, we chose to add the second game (TT) to our series "Chronicles of War" for 2003. I can see where someone not familiar with what we do may misunderstand the context of the two entities.

Word of mouth on TT has reached players across the U.S., particularly in the northeast where these games are staged. These are the people who were most affected by the 9/11 attacks, yet over 300 of them came out to play the Ring game this year. It was a weekend of fantasy and leaving the real world - which are what our games provide.

The game name "Twin Towers" has not ever - until now - been referred to, suggested, or even mentioned to me as controversial by anyone. References to the 9/11 attacks have consistently been referred to as WTC.

This is a game, not a statement. I - nor the players I've sent to view these posts to see if I'm off the mark - understood until now any correlation whatsoever. That is why the outcry took me by surprise.

I deeply regret that a game (i.e. fun) that is so highly anticipated by so many players may now be tainted by this thread.
