we all know how much it sucks to dish out freekin 40 bucks for a measley 2000 paintballs that we just shoot at targets in our backyards.

my friends, through one of my little sisters art projects i have discovered that you can use crayola model magic to make at least practice balls, i have made some molds out of clay and can churn out about 20 balls in 2-3 min, (not counting the overnight drying)

this is a great way to save sum cash

if you have honest (and cheep) friends, you can all save $$ and just play with the home made balls, for those of us that play for only recreation and every other day with our friends in the woods
this can prove a great alternative at about $3 for enough to make 300 paintballs

TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK, AND ANY OTHER ALTERNATIVE IDEAS YOU ALL HAVE

PEACE

There is a product called "REBALL", which is a soft rubber ball. It's supposed to have the same feel when hit as a paintball. Being a rubber ball it will be re-useable, and as soon as WDP have them in stock i will have a box to try.

You actually believe that your lenses will withstand hits from that stuff when its dry.
My worry is that you get a couple of hits on the goggs with that sh*t, then you go play a regular game and a standard paintball hit shatters your weakened lens.
Your lens are not designed for anything else but paintballs.

So you're saving $20 per box, how much is your eyesite worth

Eric, when this "reball" appears we can check what it's like. It has been fully tested allready, but better to be safe than sorry.
Personally, i am only going to use it for testing markers, but let's see it before judging it.

Tom, i'm not on about the Reball
Crayolas model magic is known to harden to the extent that it does not deform on impact.
Fancy being hit in the goggs @ 280fps

Hmm just what we need!

Dude seriously leave the design work up to the people who know what they are doing! Last thing we all need is for someone to take a hit from a solid projectile around the temple / throat even worse straight through the lenses!

As mentioned above - if you want to save yourself some money there is this Reball stuff. Looks like you're over the pond in US so it may be available to you already (not sure where its from myself). But even if you go with this - BE CAREFUL!

Funnily enough I was watching Worlds Nastiest Police shootouts 12 (or whatever) the other day and this SWAT officer unloaded a 9mm glock on this guys windscreen in his face at like 3 feet and most of the bullets bounced off due to the shape of the glass, the guy got hit once in the arm! Apparently had the cop being using, none-smooth, teflon coated ammo it would have been a very different story but he was still lucky.

Glad to share this uterly useless information with you, the home-made ball thing is a bad idea, don't do it!!

...Im not suggesting 9mm fmj's will bounce off better either, lol, just in case:)

Well congrats for using initiative to overcome a problem, thats good, and how technology develops. I would say though, that its not going to be a good idea to shoot mates doing this. It doesnt matter how trusting or honest they are, if one of those things smacks right through your mask. Even a hot paintball will disperse energy bu breaking up... something rock hard will transfer it all into one spot on your lens.
