Following on by a thread started by Bon, I donate to the RSPCA and WWF by standing order.

I feel somewhat annoyed by the armies of "charity collectors" who line the city streets at any given time.

Their sole aim appears to be to collect money for any charity that is remotely connected with "Children".

For exmample, Children in Need, children with no sense of smell, children who want to be on Big Brother, children related to Jedward.

I assume they think that "collecting for the kids" puts them on a higher spiritual plane, and absolves them from any evil they have done. Or intend to do.

When I refuse to make a donation after they have blocked my path and thrusted their collection tin in my face, they are mortified that I could be so heartless and look at me as if I have slept with their dog and killed their wife. Or vice-versa.

Anyone care to comment on this subject?

:)

Totally agree,

I think they hope that if they get in your face you'll donate something so they wont bug you again.

thats what my old senior school was like....
if you didnt do a sponserd event, then you were forced to donate to what ever the schools charity was. now dont get me wrong, im not too fussed about donating £2-£3, but its more the fact that one year i said i wouldent, and i was given 5 nights of detention!
im sure charity is ment to be a choice, not forced onto you!
