I have an LED angel, anyways the battery runs down so I think I had better charge it up, I leave it in my mums fiesta over night via cigarette lighter (my 1981 polo doesn't have one!) and I go out to play on sunday, by the end of the day the light is blinking, signalling the battery is dying.

So I go to charge it sunday night, leave it on over night in same fiesta, go to see it in the morning, light is green then I open the car door and the light goes back red. I go back every hour or so for 3 hours and every time it is green when I get there then when the car door opens it goes back to red.

Whats the solution? I know paintball shops do chargers for 40 quid, halfords do a big ole ugly thing for 30 quid and maplins do something for 25-30 quid.

Any suggestions?

Basically your battery has come to nearly the end of its life as it is a Ni-cad it has memory and also it sounds like your Mum's Fiesta has an earthing problem cos opening a door shouldn't switch the cigarette socket off (thats whats happening and you are interuppting the charging cycle) so get in touch with WDP an buy a new battery, I believe the newer batterys will fit but you may have to adapt the back plate to fit a shroud for the built in switch either way a bit of fiddling will be needed due to the LED having a switch in the grip frame. You will have to bite the bullet and invest in a mains charger as you have read previous posts regarding the chargers I won't repeat it all again.

Good Luck

Thanks Mark, looking at my original post I may have confused things.

Ok bought the LED, last year, november time played 4-5 times with it a case a time plus dry firing then thought I'd better look at recharging the battery so I left it turned on over night and it took a while before the LED started blinking.

What I'm saying is that there was plenty of charge in the gun when I bought it and the guy said he charged it last february.

Now when I went to charge the gun I put it in my mums fiesta with no key in the ignition, just straight into the cigarette lighter. red light comes on the charger in two places, at the box and on the cigarette bit. So I leave it thinking it will charge.

Go back to it and I can see through the window that the light is green, ie it is trickle charging. When I open the door the interior light comes on and the light turns back to red.ie rapid charging. so I sit down to watch it close the door, ignition off, light is red, watch it for a while and the light goes green, then turn on interior light and the light goes back to red, ie rapid charging.

My diagnosis...the fiestas cigarette lighter does not put out much power when left at rest, only when the interior light or radio is used which seems a bit strange.

Solution...get a wall charger.. but these things are kinda pricey from a store, halfords do this big ugly thing for 30 quid and maplins maybe 25 quid for a mains charger.

does anyone have a better idea or know how many amps the angel needs to charge. says 13.8v Dc on the charger, not how many amps though.

Well it all got a little technical Link here just down to cost now but be aware that your Angel battery may still be on its last legs so as I said a call to WDP would still be a good idea regarding cost of the battery and any/whatever you have to change to make it fit
