Hi all,
I just got an A4 used and didn't know how often it needed to be charged. Like after every time I use it or just when the batteries go dead?

I'm not an Angel expert but general good battery usage dictates that it is best to fully discharge any rechargeable cell before you charge it again, regardless of type. As it's either a lithium or NmH battery in the A4 it shouldn't suffer from serious 'memory effects' if you charge it when it is not empty. But still, I'd recommend you only charge when it is as dead as a can of Spam.

You'll find that with a full charge it should shoot around 5000 + shots, and you can charge the battery in any state of discharge, as there is no memory effect with nickel metal hydride batteries.
Most people charge it up the night before a tourney, and it's worth investing in a home power supply. Maplins do a range of power supplys that are suitable, just make sure you don't buy a charger, it's a psu (power supply) you need.
Keep the battery charged fully, as it will die all of a sudden when it gets discharged.

I can explain that one.

Yes you are trying to charge the battery, but at a specific current and voltage. The chance of getting a mass produced charger from Maplins that will be correct in each respect is fairly slim.
As wdp supply a charger that is specifically designed to charge the battery supplied with your marker, all you need to do is to get a 12v (13.8v), DC power supply, that can supply at least 1 amp.
Normally your car does this quite well, but it is far easier to charge your marker from a 12v dc power suppy, that has a car accessory socket built in, in the warmth of your home. CB radio power supplys are great, and can be bought quite cheaply second hand, all you need to do then is to add a socket for the charger.
Does that help, as i can go into more detail if your not bored allready.

Can you go into a bit more detail about how that happens, as a teammate had to get a battery replaced and if its because it was allowed to discharge fully then I'll need to let him know not to do it again.

Your team mates battery probably had out-lived itself. When you think about it, each time you charge and discharge a battery it dies a little.

What i meant by "it will die all of a sudden", is the battery will discharge at a fairly flat rate, keeping it's voltage fairly stable. Then all of a sudden it will drop to next to nothing, like Christopher Columbus falling off the end of the world.

The battery will recharge perfectly after it has discharged, so there is no failure as such, but in your mates case, it was probably the battery's "time to die".
