Changing Ion Body

Right, I have a Redz Ion body.


But it has came with no instructions. So I dont know how to fit it.

My dad recommended I should ask on here to find out. Then we can have a go at fitting it.


I have googled how to do it. But have had no luck and the videos on youtube on how to do it are to complicated because of the sound and terrible camera settings people use.


So if anyone has a link. On how to do this. It would be much appreciated.

the redz ion body is the same as the stock except some extra colour and slightly lighter. Unsrew all the screw including grips, take out battery, lift up the body and push the board up, unscrew the front banjo, unscrew the other 2 banjos to remove board, unplug eye wire from body, slide old body off, put on new body, then reasemble.

Karma: To fit it, you will need to fully disassemble the marker. Try the following steps:

1) Remove the grips and remove the battery from the marker

2) Remove both grip frame screws (one goes into the body from beside the trigger, and the other goes into the body from the snatch grip behind the actual grips)

3) Gently pull the body away from the trigger frame (the metal piece holding the grips, regulator etc).

4) When you have pulled it a little way out, use an allen key (provided with your Ion) to undo the hose that plugs into the top of the regulator (at the front of the body/trigger frame).

5) Now that is out, you should be able to pull the body away from the trigger frame completely (this will pull out the board/battery snap too - make sure not to catch this on anything)

6) Again using an appropriate-sized allen key, unscrew the 2 banjo fittings on the solenoid that go up into the breech. These are attached to hoses - one in the middle of the body and one at the back)

7) Also carefully pull the eye connector plug away from the actual eye board (that sits in the breech)

8) If I haven't forgotten anything, you should now be able to simply slide the original body kit off the firing chamber and slide your Redz one on.

Reassembly is basically all of those steps, in reverse

Standard lubing for the Ion

You need to attain the ability to strip the Ion down to lube the bolt every now and again. In order to do this you remove the body, which is what you will need to do to change the body.

I'm on my work laptop at the mo and havent got the link bookmarked, but their is a faboo link to a zpbd site somewhere that gives you a step by step guide on performing this action.

If I find it I'll post it, but in the meantime if anyone else can link to it then please help Karma out.

EDIT: Ion's are ok to strip like this, but and a big but, most Ion's go wrong becuase people don't take the appropriate care. I've done it, whether it be a cross thread, a pulled wire, a leaky hose, and I'm sure most other Ion owners will confess to doing similair as well. Take care and you will be rewarded with a working marker.

Hi Guys

Thanks for all your posts!

I have changed the kit. It really does take a long time for somebody who has never done it before.

I had some problems with it after I put it on. Some air wasnt flowing through the Regulator I think it is. But thats now sorted.

Other problems popped up along the line while doing it. But we finally finished in the end.

I used the manual to help. Along with the very helpfull posts people have given me. Would like to thank everybody who has responsed to this topic


Heres what it looks like. As you can see by the picture. I have the Redz CamLock and the Redz Pepperstick barrel.

Unbelievable!!! I ordered on Tuesday afternoon and purchased it Thursday Evening from the states. This is amazing. As I order from paintball shops over the UK sometimes very often and havnt had to much luck with delivery!!!

Considering we havent exaclty seen eye to eye in the past Karma because you strung me along on a barrel deal on two seperate forums, I have to say your Ion looks the dogs bohollocks. Well done mate.

I love Ion's to bits having owned my up'd beast for nearly a year, but I have to say the best upgrade I have recently completed was... buying a Limited Edition PMR!!!

Great looking Ion Karma.... well done mate... make sure you find the pimped marker thread and post your marker in their.
