Wel...

starting out markers range around what youve got your eyes on but it depends how much you want to get into paintball.

I started off with a Spyder and now have a JT Ex6. Good starting markers, BUT if you are thinking of eventually joining a team and or just playing tourny 'style' then i would think about buying a slightly better marker to start with because you will most probably find yourself wanting more performance sooner rather than later!

I'm alreay wanting an upgrade and i aint had my JT even a year yet!

And buying a mask, theres loads of shops around! Depends where your at. But if your like me and too lazy to get off your fat ass then take a look online! Get it sent to your door!

As you can see below i use www.paintballonthe.net! Its cheap enough!

Happy painting!

I'll tell you when i know
how much you got to spend?

I bought my first marker from there (Angle LCD), i only went for one so i wouldn't want to upgrade for a while. this is your best bet mate. it is alright going for an Inferno but as 'Wind_Speed' said if you want to join a team you'll want more performance.

To join a team is very easy ;). i went along to a trails day for a team, and i have been train ever since. when you go along to meet a team give it everything you have, show you have the balls to play hard a$$ paintball. you may not have the skills but you'll have the guts. and thats want they want to see, someone that they can train.

Once you have your kit go to a few walk-on days, get talking to people it all helps.

i'm lookin 2 spend around £300 on marker, hopper, bottle+mask.
but at the moment i have absolutely no money so i prob wont b buyin until may time but by then i may be pursaded 2 pay more for a marker that is gonna last well.
it really depends on if i'm able 2 get into a team.

i've bin lookin at paintballonthe.net and i thought the JT excellerator 6.0 wouldnt be a bad buy as a starter coz it comes with hopper, mask+air system.

i would prefer to use a compressed air marker as it would b easier to refill (i'm gettin a compressor). but is there much of a diff betweed compressed air and co2? and are co2 markers able to be filled with compressed air?

cheers...

.

CO2 is quite different to Air, not as reliable. So as you were thinking, air would be the better choice.

If your serious enough to run a marker off air then i would reccomend a decent marker. Have a look around the classifieds or even contact your local paintball site. Im sure a second hand advanced marker would come in at around 300.

Other than that i have always liked the spyder flash. A little expensive and its up to personal opinion, take a look!

You were saying that air is easier to refil... well, it is, BUT there are a lot of sites that use CO2 and rarely have air. Air is becomming more common among sites but CO2 is still the major player as it is used by most site markers!

Always personal opinion but i would ask ur local paintball site how often they stock Air if you are planning on playing there!

CO2 bottles cannot be filled with air but Air and CO2 bottles are easily changed between on a marker! I run my Ex6 on Air but if there is none i always have a CO2 bottle handy as i can just screw it on!

I think you may have the impression that a garage type compressor, can be used for paintball. Unfortunately this is not the case, as the pressure most air fed markers use is around 500psi, and the bottle is pressurised to about 3000psi or above.
The average garage type compressor goes up to around 175psi.

Thought i'd better let you know.

ah, whoops that sorta screws my idea up then. so how would you pressurise a bottle with air or co2? and do the sites charge you to use their air/co2?

thanx...

on the plus side tho the co2 markers are cheaper :D !
