I have just had a very bad experience with purchasing on the internet. I found a advert for a ir3 class on ebay which i bid on i also aproached the seller and asked him how much for a straight sale.
We agreed a price which we were both happy with (a lot of money).
we then agreed i would transfer some money via Western union as i was told by him and a travel agent where i transfered the money that he could CHECK THAT money was there BUT NOT take the money with out a pin which i was to with hold until the goods arrived.
The next day i check WU web site and saw the money had been collected. I rang travel agent who again said this was not possible.
About one hour later the travel agent rang me to tell me the money had been taken.
The travel agent made a mistake you could take the money as long as he had my name which he did (so he could'post' to me)
The travel agent also failed to put a password onto the account which i ask for as a extra safe guard.
I doubt i will ever see my marker as his email account has gone.
I thought i would put this on the board to show that no matter How carefull you are people can still rip you off.
I am trying to get my money back but no luck yet.
Laters all p.s i would play this week but some scum bag has taken all my money.
I have to go tell the wife now

:D :D

Try dragging the travel agent into small claim court, small claim courts can reward up to about £3000. Best thing you can do is ring a 'no win no fee' claims company, and theyll decide whether or not you have a case against them...bare in mind you did request additional security and they failed to provide it.
Its unlikely that ebay will get your money back, no doubt they have a get out of jail free card that says it isnt their problem.

Good luck

Post the users ebay name so that we know to avoid them, report them to ebay, and have a go at the travel agents for failing to provide the security you requested. Do you have any proof that you requested the additional security?

Cheers,

Paul.

Thanks for the warning brother- I was gonna buy a marker off ebay, but I'm having second thoughts now. Hope it gets sorted and the f**ker who ripped you off gets his knackers caught in a door frame or something.:) Anyway- I thought eBay were gonna stop people from selling markers?

thats why if u are unsure then use escrow. that way you are both protected. i have bought a lot of paintball kit off ebay that adds up to a lot. i have always made sure to post a cheque recorded delivery to the home address and then been prepared if no marker arrived to travel to that ddress and "collect" whats been owing.

so far though no probs but there are always scum bags out there !!

Contact WU, they should have a certain amount with your name on if they have made the mistakes. Its even better if you paid for the exta security.
