Cardiff Uni Paintball Society looking for a place to train

Hi guys

Cardiff University started a paintball society last year but it never really took off. I'm thinking of running it next year but there are countless obstacles to tackle in making CUPS a successful sports society.

A few of things I was hoping someone here could help me out with:

1. Does anyone know of a venue in or near to south Wales that welcome teams for training? Where do other teams from this area train?

2. Any ideas on where sup air and reballs can be bought from in the UK? A five man field would be plenty. I imagine getting funding will be an absolute nightmare so the cheaper the better.

3. On the off chance that we do gather a good amount of funding, we would probably look to buy uni kit - maybe 10 gats and sets of playing gear. With regards to markers, my only idea is to ask planet eclipse if they could give a discount on a bulk purchase of budget markers. I was wondering if anyone had an idea of a cheaper alternative, or contact with a different dealer?

There's an awful lot to consider but answers to these questions would be incredibly useful.

Thanks very much in advance!

1). Shoreline Paintball perhaps (http://www.shorelineoutdoor.com/)

2). Any paintball retailer (online or in-store). LIPS/Justpaintball/Warped/BZpaintball to name a few - click the banners at the top of the forums to visit their respective sites. A box of 2000 paintballs start from around £25 depending on quality. Reballs retail around £20 for 100. A 5-man field is very costly; upwards to £2000 second hand....good luck trying to secure funding from the union for that :p

3). Eclipse don't do "budget markers". Their low-end Etek3 marker starts from £385 brand new and isnt really "low-end" to be honest. Might want to look at DYE/Proto instead. A Proto Rail is £245 and an ideal club marker. Anyone wishing to upgrade from that can fork out for high-end markers themselves. Same goes for kit. Playing jerseys are probably the only thing worth investing with the union funding, just for the sake of looking like serious team. If anything, the most important bit of kit that i would advise investing your own money into, are a pair of decent comfy goggles.

this might be of some use: http://www.aberguild.co.uk/en/sports-a-activities/sports/sports-contact-list/56-sports/63-paintball

or PM me for details on how to get in touch with other presidents from Brum/Lanc/Gloucester/Keele who could provide you with more advice than i ever could in setting up.

Thank you very much for your replies guys.

Moto, Shoreline looks like a pretty good shout. I'd never heard of them! A fair distance away but if they are willing to let us use their facilities the drive would be well worth it. I'll give them an email.

I couldn't find reball or sup air on any of those sites :( probably just the classic can't-see-what's-right-infront-of-you syndrome but yeah, no luck. Those prices are utterly bank breaking at any rate and no doubt the health and safety aspect would give the uni shivers.

I was looking on eclipse and saw some 2009 Spyders with free air bottles http://shop.planeteclipse.com/product.asp?id=3697. I've sent them an email but no joy yet.

Welshballer, cheers that group looks like the business. I'll post on there soon. Phwoar! Didn't realise about Bangor and Lampter! Lovely stuff.
