I heard that some teams did not like the fields at the tournament.

What didn't people like about them?

I hope i can speak on behalf of Kool Running when i say that we enjoyed playing all of them.

I personally wish that we could always play on fields of that quality. The playing surface was great, even the astro turf. I would much rather play on astro turf than in a muddy bog.

Spare a thought.......

........for your knees. Astro turf might be great for ease of cleaning balls away but after playing 3 games on them on day one I could't kneel down on day two. Not designed for sliding on !!! (but then I have got shaged ligaments, nhs waiting list :-( )

The fields WERE to small. When you have played proper fields like at Mayhem & Toulose being taken on the break 50 % of the time is a nause ! less skill mopre luck !!!

Front players views of course, I'm sure you back guys loved having a target rich enviroment without even moveing a step.

I did't think the venue was worth the hype either. No sign posts and a bitch to get to, the spectators needed binoculars, but it did have a bar !!

If its there next year (and i'm not on crutches) I might just have that holiday the wife wanted. Not impresed.

The fields were in general great. All different. One member of the public asked me if it was "Its a knockout" I especially like the Angel and Diablo fields with the big structures in the middle. I dont think the fields were too small, great for fast paintball, and scope to make killer moves.

As for the astro turf, great to run on, but very bad when you fall/slide. I scratched my leg /gun up while I saw countless others with holes in their trousers/jerseys etc. The astro turf fields themselves were fine, but the surface gets a thumbs down!

Deja vouz.....

after playing Toulouse this year it was a bit of a surprise to find the Angel and Diablo fields were setup exactly the same at Campaign, ony difference was the size. With something as versatile as Supair surely some new ideas could be tried.

Ask Jeff from Diablo, he's got some crazy ideas for field setups (Happy birthday Jeff!)

The astro turf was hit and miss, nice to have a nice flat surface to run on, but not good to slide on.

The JT field was the best in my opinion, with all the T-bags on the half way it was a field for agressive breaks and had some really good games played on it.

a great tourney.

After returning from Campaign, I notice there are a variety of opinions on the tourney, so I thought I'd add my bit.

This was my first large tourney so I have no other comparison.

The Marshalling was spot on, the marshals weren't afraid to dive in and get in on the action to make decisions without stopping the flow of play wherever possible. yes there were a few bad calls, but these will always happen, I was pulled for a bounce without the marshall even checking if it had burst. Anyone who marshalls knows how you make decisions instantly on the info you have, just at times you don't always have all the info.

the rule about facing the opposite way when shot could have been better done. the idea is great, as its stops dead players interfering with the game, but I know of at least 4 occasions where players thought the marshall had called them, or something caught their eye,so they just turned their head and where 1-4-1.An idea that was suggested to me was that it could be made that you had to stay behind the board so you can't see the field and not move round the sides.

the fields might have been better if they were slightly larger as it would have give more opportunity for bigger breaks, but on the flip side, it meant that you had to break shorter and then choose your moves carefully, so in some ways it meant you needed more skill.

A bit more room behind the base boards could have helped as I found I was tripping over other players at times when 4 people tried to get out of the same side.

The on field chronies were used, 2 of my team were chronied.

The netting could have been a bit higher, perhaps just up to the top level of the towers, but I didn't hear of anyone getting shot from the other fields( our main problem was shooting our own team, 3 in one game!!! DOH)

But the site, tourney, and especially the site for the bar, made for a fantastic tourney, and having the film crew there so we could all watch the snap shooting and Banzai - Rushers game added to the atmosphere.

Lets see more well organised, well publisised tourneys to get paintball the status and recognition it deserves.

and besides I think we all learnt something, Don't slide in on Astro turf!!!

Well done to Niall and all the campaign team.

P.s. sorry for such a long posting buts its just my 2p worth.

I used sliders on the astro as the breaks were shorter with more cover so i had no probs with mt knees or cargos.
As for getting shot on the break i got done 3 times at mayhem but not once at campaign just down to luck some times and getting your back players to shoot the right lines.
All in all a greate torny even getting muged by 4 ton tons at the same time then 4 camp tigers in our last 2 games was fun or am i just worped?
