Just got back from watching today, and I must say I'm undecided if Campaign was OK or a little below par. I think my expectations were a little high after watching too many DVD's of the NPPL events. Don't get me wrong I loved the venue, ample seating, the fields were great and everything seemed well organised. But as an ex player visiting as a specatator I felt there was no vibe it lacked any buzz, and the trade stands were thin on the ground with very little going on considering this was a saturday afternoon. This might be due to the crap weather.
When I played a few years ago at Chrystal Palace there was a real buzz about the place and the there were plenty of stands to visit, I got round them all today in about 20 minutes.
As an alternative opinion my wife does not like paintball, but had no choice but to come with me today with the kids, as we couldn't get into birmingham. Her opinion was suprising, she liked the trade stands, saying that she expected them to be more like market stalls and not as big as they were. My daughter also enjoyed the walk round picking out every pink marker she could find and annoucing that she wanted "THAT ONE" for christmas She also enjoyed watching a few games with the seating being well organised and easily accessed. She said she would go back and watch more games if the weather is good. Not bad for someone who did not like the sport.
As a final note, I also took my 3 year old daughter today, she loved every minute, especailly the game this afternoon on the millienium field about 3.30 with Fat Lady's. She was so excited to see an all woman team play and win (and of course wearing her favourite colour..PINK!), they now have a new fan (probably their youngest too!) She wants to play for them when shes old enough. She even cried when we had to go home because she though she was going to have a go!!!!
Actually looking back at this I would say as an event this was pretty good from a spectators point of view, with only a few niggles to be addressed, but I suppose that might have come from using a new site. Thats it, my two pence, please don't flame me!
