Just got back from watching today, and I must say I'm undecided if Campaign was OK or a little below par. I think my expectations were a little high after watching too many DVD's of the NPPL events. Don't get me wrong I loved the venue, ample seating, the fields were great and everything seemed well organised. But as an ex player visiting as a specatator I felt there was no vibe it lacked any buzz, and the trade stands were thin on the ground with very little going on considering this was a saturday afternoon. This might be due to the crap weather.
When I played a few years ago at Chrystal Palace there was a real buzz about the place and the there were plenty of stands to visit, I got round them all today in about 20 minutes.

As an alternative opinion my wife does not like paintball, but had no choice but to come with me today with the kids, as we couldn't get into birmingham. Her opinion was suprising, she liked the trade stands, saying that she expected them to be more like market stalls and not as big as they were. My daughter also enjoyed the walk round picking out every pink marker she could find and annoucing that she wanted "THAT ONE" for christmas She also enjoyed watching a few games with the seating being well organised and easily accessed. She said she would go back and watch more games if the weather is good. Not bad for someone who did not like the sport.

As a final note, I also took my 3 year old daughter today, she loved every minute, especailly the game this afternoon on the millienium field about 3.30 with Fat Lady's. She was so excited to see an all woman team play and win (and of course wearing her favourite colour..PINK!), they now have a new fan (probably their youngest too!) She wants to play for them when shes old enough. She even cried when we had to go home because she though she was going to have a go!!!!

Actually looking back at this I would say as an event this was pretty good from a spectators point of view, with only a few niggles to be addressed, but I suppose that might have come from using a new site. Thats it, my two pence, please don't flame me! :D

I got back about an hour ago and... wow! I loved it! The stalls were all good, not quite enough sales (apart from SP! Chigos for £5!) but they all seemed to have plenty of stock, and a good range of gear that's usually hard to come by over here.

I thought the stands were set up well, and had plenty of room for spectators, even for the finals!

The fields were well looked after, and there wasn't too much paint lying on the ground.

In my opinion, the marshalling was great! There was plenty of them on the field, and they were in the key positions.

The atmoshphere was great, plenty of cheering for the UK teams, and a little friendly booing for the french teams ;)

The crowd got a little warning when XSV came up against Menace in the first game of the final! A large group of Menace supporters decided to let a player know that there was an XSV player in the snake with him.. Naughty Naughty! Cheating, in any language, is still cheating! ;)

But the final match was tense, with neither team wanting to go home empty handed. This led to a hard fought battle with XSV taking the game in hand with a hard push forward, nailing the last 2 Menace players within seconds!

It was my first tournament and for sure it won't be my last! Hopefully one day soon I'll be playing in them! But for now I'll be more than happy with spectating if there are more tournaments like this one!

My 2p :)

Think that after Paris the announcer were boring and dull. The dj stand in Paris had thumping tunes playing and shouting at the crowd to gee the spectators up the crowd loved it and the atmosphere was amazing. But instead we had what sounded like two people sat in there front room having a chat? // not trying to get the crowd involved at all
that was what was lacking at campaign cup

Yeah was in the crowd when that happened. Saw two of the marshalls discuss the supporter cheating after the game before the warning was given out. But threatening to remove a player if supporters shouted out help seemed a bit ill-conceived. The crowd behaved after the warning, but it was open to abuse and could of ended in a farce. What was to stop supporters getting an opposition player removed by shouting out help to them instead?

That could've happened, but I think shouting in Noewegian kind of gave it away ;)

Helping that Menace player out led to 2 XSV players getting shot out, this could've ended the match for them! And as Menace won the second match that could've led to XSV (who were clearly the better team imo) going home empty handed. And I think the telling off only applied to the finals as these were the most serious matches. But it was funny ;) The menace dude getting the hint that the XSV guy was the other side of the bunker, muggin him, taking another who was running towards him, then getting leathered by 2 more XSV players :D:D

Funny as heck ;)

When the Menace dude slid into the snake, he had no idea that there was an XSV player in the snake. The crowd shouted "Snake" in norwegian a few times at which point he realised and mugged him :D
