Hello everyone,

I would like to know if any of you "local" guys would happen to know a good, cheap accommodation in Birmingham during the Campaign Cup. We intend to fly in on the 9th and leave on the 12th.

Right now, the cheapest thing I have found was an Accor / Ibis Hotel. Really cheap, but 11.5 km away from the NEC.

Does anyone know where else I can look for cheap accommodation for my team, which is near to the tournament ?

Thanks in advance,

Ben

Yeah, please let us know too, the prices at the Campaign web site isn't really pb player friendly, are they? Can understand why people thought the Norwegian Millennium last year was expensive, the hotel prices there were half of the Birminham prices!

I dont know about cheap hotel in Birmingham with it being a large city, but of you dont mind staying out side, look for hotels in Lichfield around 20mins drive, Tamworth again 20mins drive both small towns with plenty of hotels and B&bs.

Lichfield is slightly nicer though:D, both with good rail and road services into birmingham itself, and close to the NEC

Location, Location.
look for travelodges, comfort inns, premier lodges, and other base price hotels.

also, your paying for the room not the people so in a twin room there is most likely a sofa bed that can sleep two more...

hate to say it but thats about standard price in the uk really all over for the cheaper hotels.

We are negotiating with some cheaper hotels at the moment. The first The Coventry Hill Hotel, which is only 10 minutes from the NEC and they are offering all Campaign Cup participants the special rate of £50 per twin room per night. Reservations can be made by calling Cahla Fields on 02476 402151 Or book online at
cahla.fields@britanniahotels.com quoting “Campaign Cup”

We will send out a mailshot soon with new offers, including Premier Travel (lodges)

Also WTG travel can find very cheap accommodation As well as the posh ones listed so far. Thru the web site

Thanks everyone, I will try the links you guys posted.

bruce: The thing is, we could stay at that Accor hotel. But it's 11,5 km away from the NEC. And we'd hate to get a rental car as that would boost the costs through the roof. Rental car for 4 days in England ? :( Wish I'd be Rockefeller ;)

Other suggestions are well welcome.
