Mooching round the 50, with the flag
I have an old classic .68 mag that I could do with some advice on, as far as I know it's a level 7 (promag conversion), uses a 3.5oz bottle as a foregrip/expansion chamber and runs on C02 still.

see the follwing link:

http://andy-g1.magix.net/

and then the paintball folder for some images of the marker with my old shredder and a jacko infinity barrel fitted.

Now the expansion chamber bottle must be very old, it was on the gun when I bought it and I've had this a few years now (maybe as much as 10 years). is there any gear still around to update this a bit? Though from the UKPSF site I understand that bottles under 0.5 litre capacity do not require testing.

Any advice appreciated.

Dump the 3.5 ounce, stick a reg in there and an air bottle on the back! My old mag used to be so consistent like that.
What else you looking at upgrading?
Go on ebay click united states down the bottom and search for automag. just done it and found 4 pages of stuff. sight rails, barrels, grips, loads. they may ship to the uk but if it doesnt say they will ask them on ask seller a question

suggestions on a suitable setup?

I'm tempted to keep it on Co2 as I play the odd 'customer' day and some sites don't allow compressed air.

Not looking for any particular upgrades as such, just wondering what people had done with theirs and what might a good add-on/upgrade for mine...

as a walk on i would say use it how it is. you could go for one of them fancy anti liquid front grips, but they do the same as your 3.5ounce bottle. the level 7 is perfect for what you use it for. I wish i still had my mag as it used to shoot quick and have toyed with the idea of buying another just to see if it still done the trick in tournies and for sentimental values. it really isnt worth upgrading for walk on days in my mind. the only other thing you can do is get it annoed. All apart fromthe body as you cant anno steel. i used to have a 12once bottle on my marker and a remote hose going to a 20ounce on my back. when i chilled the 12ounce down i would shut it off and turn the 20ounce on with a on/off. then there was fresh co2 going through the mag so no drop off. thats handy when you shoot loads.
my suggestion would be save your cash mate

I was speaking to one of the Delta force marshalls on here who said the site might not like the 3.5oz bottle but as it's an integral part of the gas system it's not easy to take of or change over. test-wise I think it's exempt as I said.

I used to run mine the same way, 20oz on my back and a remote hose.

One option is to replace the 3.5oz with a Palmer Stabiliser;

https://palmer-pursuit.com/ecom/product_info.php/cPath/22_23/products_id/28?osCsid=ad2b5b4cf5f14675fb41fd7d6d858a61

One of the best products around for CO2 and with an anti-syphon will keep liquid out of the marker and make for better consistency.

I just so happen to have one for sale pimp pimp so drop me a line at olly.bell@btinternet.com if you want to pick one up cheaply:)

Also if you strip the rear reg/on/off assembly, look at the holes that carry gas from the rear to the front sections and see if they line up when the parts are assembled. If so all good, if not then might need a hole drilling, check out http://www.automags.org/forums/ or the Mag forum at PBNation for more info and tech advice aplenty.
