There is all this talk of enforcement in the leagues but I was hoping people with some knowledge in the industry (Manike, Chicago etc ) could shed some light on what is actually feasible out of a unit.

As I understand it.

Ballistic chrono's are accurate for shot count, but can't (currently) be used in an on field situation.

The NXL uses the hand held radars - but they are for FPS only I believe? how accurate are they?

How easy would it be to combine the 2 and count bps and velocity together in one hand held unit?

Has work been done on this, how far advanced is it?

How much would one of these units likely cost, the radar guns are only $1000 each, which isn't much at all in the scheme of things depending on thier capabilities.

I just want a clear idea of what's out there.

Cheers
:)

I thought that the NXL radar chronos can monitor both bps and velocity on field?

I may be wrong of course, but that was my belief. :)

How much are those chronos?

Maybe at the next NPPL/MS event, there could be a ref monitoring each start gate on each field to catch modes and velocity cheats? 5 fields, 10 judges, and 10 radar guns, a relatively inexpensive (compared to issuing boards to each play, which wil NEVER happen) method of monitoring and policing cheats.

More of Jim Drew's usual snake oil and FUD.
Our DM4/DM5 chip, Proto Upgrade, and A5 electronics are each hand calibrated to correct any timing inaccuracy. No whining here, just results. The penalty that you "deserved" might be courtesy of a competitor more concerned about making a profit than the reliability of their products... or they simply don't care if people cheat... take your pick.
Anyone who knows anything about microelectronics will be able to see the cloud of bull**** here, but he relies on most customers being gullable magpies (which they are.)

Suffice it to say, some of his stuff may work, but don't believe a word he says.

Anyway, this device measures BPS only, not velocity. To read velocity you need more than a cheap microphone and an "powerful" 8MHz PIC

Because he sold the company... to himself? Besides, only one person could fit that amount of BS into a single product description.
