What happens if you put two men who live, eat and breath paintball in a bar with notebooks, pens and endless pints of lager?

CALL TO DUTY - October 3rd 2010 - Hereford

Whilst sitting in a bar many months ago, Al and myself got talking about the 'ultimate' paintball game. We've all had the same conversations with our mates and we've all swapped ideas as to what game we'd love to put on, when and how we'd do it.
Except this conversation ended differently......very differently. After six hours of dreaming up our ultimate paintball game and about a dozen pints each we made a pact. A pact that would see us over the next six months driving hundreds of miles scouring the country, meeting in rain swept abandoned air bases and spooky derelict mental asylums looking for the venue for our 'Ultimate First Person Shoot 'em Up'.
One of those many journeys found us meeting outside Hereford at an abandoned Cold War chemical munitions factory with two men who mysteriously were both called Bob.
The two Bobs wanted to show us around the site where they do some training, within about 3 seconds we both knew that we'd found our venue.
So what is Call To Duty?
It's a game designed by guys who live paintball - for other guys who live paintball. There will be no website, no fancy game pack, no Generals, no T-shirts and no burger vans selling hot dogs for a fiver.
It'll be a game played in an astonishing environment, an environment that no player will ever have played in before. Every image in the video above is part of the playing area. There will be snipers in the towers, there will be 6 six story buildings to clear.....it will be dangerous! There will be doors to kick in, walls to smash down, buildings to breach and you will be abseiling into game zones. There will be broken glass everywhere and you will be fighting at close quarters - make no mistake........this will be like no other game you've ever played.
It will be limited to 200 players. Not because the site is small (it's not, it's an entire industrial complex with over 40 buildings) but because we think 200 players will work well.
Tickets will be £35 and the game will run all day Sunday. It will be event paint only and we will be using clear paintballs. A box will cost £30. This is not negotiable. Access to this site is conditional on clear paint being used.
Tickets are available on www.corporate-killers.com . It will be strictly first come - first served.
When we launched the event, 151 tickets were sold in 31 minutes which we are told is a world record for a paintball game. In the process, the UK Scenario forum crashed as did our online ticketing system.
This game is something a little bit different. It's not for everyone. Anyone expecting the red carpet treatment that you get at most scenario games will be disappointed. There will be no traders, no tech support and you will be totally responsible for you own kit. If your gun breaks and you haven't brought a spare - tough! It's your responsibility. Crack on.

Guys
We've put together a game that the both of us would love to play in. It's our fantasy paintball game. Some players will hate it, some will love. Either way, we don't care that much because everyone should arrive with their eyes wide open. Very infrequently in life you get to put into practise something that you've dreamt up in a pub.........this game is just that.
If kicking in doors, smashing down walls, abseiling into game zones, shooting out of moving cars and running around a massive industrial complex with 200 other paintballers flicks your switch, then this maybe worth a look.
If you don't like the idea of being shot at close range, if eating burgers or generally having your hand held is important to you - then you should give this one a miss. It's not a test of manhood (although obviously poofs need not apply) - but it'll be an acquired taste.
For those who come - we'll see you on the gantries!
Al and Tim.
