Just when Al and I thought we had the event sorted, organised and ready to go - along came an opportunity that has turned the entire weekend on it's head.
At today's final site meeting, it was floated to us that we could take the site for an extra day. Instead of arriving Friday night, the opportunity was presented for us to take over the venue from early Friday morning.
Al and I thought about it for about 3 seconds - and jumped at the chance.
So what does this mean?
Well, we're changing the format of the entire event. Call To Duty II will now be a paintball playing extravaganza! The event will now be three days long with play beginning at noon on Friday and ending at 3pm Sunday. In order to cram in as much paintball as possible, we'll also be running two nights of night games and having two parties!
Check this out - that's 27 hours of paintball!
This is how it'll work:
Anyone is welcome to arrive from 10am on Friday morning. The first games will start at 12 noon. Here's the deal - anyone turning up on Friday morning may be asked to pitch in and set up marques or put out some boundary rope. The event staff (i.e. Al, myself and our marshalls) will be playing ALL DAY Friday and also the night game along with any customers who are about - everyone is welcome. But, everyone will be expected to pitch in and do a bit of marshalling, whether they are our staff or customers - we'll all take a turn to throw a ref's top on and help out.
There'll be no kit taxi's running Friday (because we'll all be playing lol) so anyone coming on Friday needs to be prepared for a walk from the car park of around half a click.
We'll have catering onsite all day Friday and we'll have a party, plenty of beers and PS3 competition on the Friday night.
We'll be waking everyone up at 7am on Saturday morning and the first games will kick off at 8am. Tim, Al and our staff will play for the first hour - before we all drop our guns and actually start our weekends work!
Games, BHD, Ram Training and everything else will run all day Saturday. We'll also run another night game on the Saturday night before winding things up and getting into party mode (again). For the Saturday night game, we feel it would be rude for us not to set all the tanks that are laying around the village alight so that we play by the flickering light of a dozen burning APC's and T80 Russian Tanks! 8)
On Sunday, the game will start at 9am and we'll play through until 2pm.
That's an absolutely massive amount of paintball crammed into one weekend (3 day games and 2 night games) and we'll cover the cost of the extra day.
So lets recap what's on offer at Call To Duty II:
- 3 days of games
- 2 night games
- 2 nights of partying
- Black Hawk Down Experience
- Ram CQB Training
- Massive pyro explosions
- Many of the houses are linked by tunnels and crawl throughs - you'll find 'em!!!!
- Remote controlled cars rigged with pyro (RCXD's)
- In game audio (that'll make the ground shake!)
- Over a dozen burning tanks - we'll bring plenty of diesel and keep those babies flaming - will be awesome for the night games
- A couple of landrovers with paintball machine guns mounted on them used in game
- Sewer system beneath the entire town to fight through - absolutely mental environment!!!
- Free RAP4 loan kit

- 400 players!
- Players from all over the planet flying in for this game alone - from USA, Canada, South Africa, Russia, Holland, Belgium, France, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Spain
- BBC News crew on site running a story for BBC News on the event
- 8 Plasma screens for the mother of all Call of Duty PS3 competitions at the parties
- BraNewbs Photography
- HPAC Air to 4.5k
- Abseiling into game zones!!!!!
- Free on-site accommodation - no need to camp, just grab a building with your mates, smash out your roll mat and get your head down!
- RAM Catering - sit down meals in a CQMS dining facility - no rip off prices
- New generation clear paintballs specifically designed for Call to Duty II by Powerball
- BZ Paintball trade stand on site
- Demon Paintball supplied pyro's
- Tim and Al will run the main Sunday game from the OP's control room in the top of the Church (hallowed ground - any squaddies on this forum will know that mere mortals are never allowed anywhere near the Ops room), we'll use CCTV and Audio to monitor the game and move the play around according to our game script
- Use of the 'Maze' - a partially subterranean bunker with a maze of corridors - don't go in here unless you have balls the size of Fiat 500
- Probably the best venue for a paintball game anywhere, specifically chosen by Guerrilla Paintball
- The most intense paintball experience you'll ever have in your life - a mixture of intimate faction on faction games and also 200 v 200 mega battles raging across the entire town
Guys - please note......THIS IS NOT A SCENARIO GAME. If you are looking for a Scenario Game - DO NOT COME TO THIS EVENT!!!
There are plenty of good scenario events going on this year with the Super6, Carantan etc - book into those. DO NOT COME TO THIS EVENT IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A SCENARIO GAME. THIS IS NOT A SCENARIO GAME. er.....is that clear enough?
Notes:
We have a couple of tickets that have been returned to us and guys who have asked us to pass them on as they are unable to attend. If you call 01970 626618 on Monday from 9am - we'll do what we can to help anyone out.
Please also note that we've got one last chance to increase our paint order from Powerball next week. Anyone wanting to increase their paint order is to please email tim@shorelinepaintball with the full name that you booked in as (not forum name) and how many you wish to add onto your current order.
Please be aware, WE WILL NOT BE STOCKING EXTRA PAINT TO BUY ON THE DAY AT THIS EVENT. Clear paint is no good to us and any left over will be binned. For this reason we're not holding stock. If you run out of paint - you may as well pack your bags and leave early. THERE WILL NOT BE EXTRA PAINT AVAILABLE TO BUY ON THE DAY - er.....can't get clearer than that
By extending this event into a 3 day and 2 night affair and with all the bells and whistles we've added (we've kept a few surprises back) we're confident that this event will not only be one of the best weekend of paintball that the UK has ever seen - but it'll be right up there with anything that is being offered anywhere in the world. It's not something we say cheaply. This event was the fastest selling game in paintball history and one thing is for sure - with guys flying in from all over the world for this...........we're going to put on one hell of a show!!!
Strap in - Call To Duty II is going to blow your socks off!!
At today's final meeting, we asked the facility commander - is there anything we can't do at all? Any restrictions? Anything you don't want us doing?
His reply?
"You boys do what you want, literally whatever you want. The army have been trying to destroy this place for 20 years so you just make sure your customers run around here all weekend having the time of their lives. The place is yours."
Game on!
Just to get you in the mood - here's a reminder of the first Call To Duty:
