Buying from the USA

Hi all

Having read so meny "I'm a newbie which gun should get theads" my eyes are have holes in the back of them. I have set my heart on an WGP E-Ranger.

At the moment I can't find it onsale in the UK so unless someone knows different, I will have to buy it from the states. What I would like to know is what problems I might face (apart from the high shipping costs and 20.5% tax) in getting parts, sending it back etc

Thank you in advance

ok shipping is $60!!!!!!!!!, and um.............you dont have to pay american tax, as it is american, when you order off an american site i dont think they add proper tax, plus if they do it would be more around 5%.

I go America often and i could get it for you problem is that i aint going this xmas:( i am viiting my dad next at Easter, but by the way im not trying to put you down but set ur hopes higher, save and save for ages to get the most amount that is posible, go for a cocker or an impy, that way you wont want to upgrade so soon, you can find good deals on this forum in classifieds adds too.

Hey SittingDuck, there is one question that most people here would ask you before you buy your first marker and that is, have you used an e-ranger before? It doesnt matter what marker you intend to buy, if you just go and get one that you have heard is good and you find you dont like something about it or its uncomfortable, you cant just return it. You need to try as many markers as you can and see which one suits you best for the way you play i.e. forward would need a tighter marker and back would need an accurate and possible high rate of fire, as well as what you can fit into your budget.

Hope this helps.

P.S. Don't just go out and buy stuff you havent researched or tried before. trust me!

like that "toy " you ordered from the Over 21s only catalogue?

back to topic (not that i would hijack the thread)

I agree with jeevus, try as many as you can. WGP make some really sweet markers, so whilst the marker will be nice, you may not like it too much.
it might not sit right for you, wrong balance, trigger doenst feel right, its one of these things, ask a paintballer what their favourite marker is, and you will get a differant answer every time, cos everyone is differant.

So again, Try B4 u Buy :D

Utter rubbish. The bestest paintball marker in the whole wide world is an Ir3.
:D :D :D :D :D

Alright I could'nt resist it, was feeling far too facetious (and bored)!!!!!!!

On thread, you might want to ask LPS if they can get you one. They seem to be able to get everything ever invented for Paintball, so give em a call. If your shipping from the US, I've heard something called "Warranty Replacement" used here and there, but can't quite figure out why??????

Thanks for your responces.

As I am going into paintball with not knowing anyone who does it reguarly, it's all good and well to say you should try the marker before you buy. Yes I agree with this but I have no contacts to to borrow a gun for the day to see if I like it (firing a few rounds at a target from a marker to see if I like it would not tell me much). Add to this, at the moment I have no idea in what I'm looking for in a gun or what kind will suit my style of play. This is somthing that I will find out in time. So I'm taking a gamble on the marker, the reason is I decided on the E-Ranger is because I have read very few bad things about it.(you can always find people on the internet saying that somthing is best thing ever!) and it's with my buget.

As LPS is 5mins from me I did go in there the other day, and spoke to someone there he was very helpful and did show me a T3, but he had never heard of the E-Ranger, I will give them a ring and see if they can get one. (I would rather see my money say in the UK). But even if I buy a T3, I would still have no idea if that suited me untill after a few walk on's, same thing will happen with any marker I buy.

After my first marker I will have an idea of what I'm looking for. but you have to start some where.

I understand what you're all saying, and unfortunately theres no way of seeing how a gun suits you unless you try it for yourself. SittingDuck - A site that may help you in your decisions is http://www.pbreview.com, although it can't tell you how you will personally find a gun, it has hundreds of reviews of paintball equipment all from users. You may find it interesting reading if nothing else. :)

and now for some decent advise......

Ok I understand you may not be able to try a marker. Pbreview is a very good site because all the products are rated by people who have used them. The T3 isnt a bad marker for someone starting out. As long as you maintain any marker it should do you well.
Whats the maximum amount you have put aside to buy your marker and Co2?

A tippmann would also be a good choice for some one starting out, you can drop a bomb on it and it wont break, tippys are very reliable, oh and if you want to go get a feel of peoples markers try to make it to Sparklies academy, they have a variety of markers there and if yu ask people they are ussually more than happy to let you shoot their gun over th range, i know i would if you just asked
