Buying A New Gun

HEY GUYS, I havent been on the forums for a long while but I have been playing Paintball until my balls are frozen and my Co2 is frosted up. My marker, while VERY VERY cheap, lasted me for about 2 years. The marker was a Point Zero Model 83 I bought from e-bay brand new for $20. Anyways, that gun kicked the bucket, **** the bed, ****ed me over, screwed me up, just fuc.......you get the point. Anyways, my question is this, I have NO MONEY whatsoever but I am getting a summer job that pays good. My price range will be $0~$200 or so. For this money what is the best gun i can get. I have a nice mask and everything else so I can just save my money for my gun. What should i get? I was thinking a Spyder or Tippman M98. My friend has a Tippman and a Spyder compact java and I love them both. I am undecided so I decided to ask of the wisdom of my fellow paintball fanatics.

1 thing i think most ppl will say is try before u buy, and u are lucky to have a mate with the 2 markers u like,
its always hard to choose between 2 markers, i have difficulty choosing a pair of shoes. just have a go of them all,

It is possible to upgrade it with Spyder parts.

yeah, check out the black dragun. They come in under $200

BUT, do they run on co2 or HPA or both? Something to check for first if you don't have HPA.

I say, try your friend's spyder and m98 for a couple of outings and see which one performs better for you. This would also be a good (and rare) opportunity to learn the ins and out's of both guns. After playing with them, have your pal show you how to take them apart and clean them. Basically, act like you own them and use them from beginning to end. Just don't toss it to your pal to fix when things go wrong. It's the only way to learn.

IMHO, I think the Tippmanns are more durable and reliable and cheap ($120). But they are also have long bodies, are louder than alot of other guns and do not have as fast ROF as a spyder (but the ROF for the M98 is fast enough nonetheless).

I think spyders are good guns with good ROF but they are more prone to breakdowns if you do not take care of them and clean them. Also the bottomline screws and gas lines are not the standard holes and threadings found on other guns. This can be remedied by getting an adapter. It's just annoying that's all.

I was over at my friends today and he has a tipmann m98 and his brother has a Spyder Compact java. I played 2 games with each of them, took them both apart, cleaned, oiled, and put back together and came to one LARGE and final conclussion. TIPMANN wins it all. The whole thing. I like the Spyders because of the faster ROF because of the double triggers but I seen kits for Model 98 double triggers so I am going to start saving to get a tipmann. Sound good? I would consider the Black Dragun but none of my friends have one and I am not ready for the box of problem I would have with an electro marker. I am gonna get the tipmann then in a year move up to a bushy or cocker. I don't know, we will see, thanks for your help.

Tippmann Model 98 Custom. That's all I have to say abot the new marker question. From there, if you wanna join tourneys, either beef up your 98c or get a wOrrgames 2k, 2k1, or 2k2 cocker, which run about $300-$350. The 98 custom is an excellent marker that i own myself. paintballgear.com has the 98c for about $120 so you can get other upgrades. get a new barrel first, then an expansion chamber to be safe. if you have nitro, scratch the expansion chamber and buy a regulator. hope this helps
