Should a burst disk blow while the nearly empty 20oz CO2 bottle is sat on a shelf in my bedroom for no apparent reason? (not been touched for a month, not a hot day, not in direct sunlight) Just wondering if there could be a problem with the bottle?

The cat that was lying on the floor at the time still hasn't recovered, neither has the flatmates girlfriend!!:D

Wouldn't think it's a problem with the bottle, how would a bottle cause a burst disk to go. As we know the disk will rupture if there is a pressure spike above the capacity of the disk, so your's blew meaning

a. There was a spike above the threshhold of the disk.
or
b. The disk was worn/knackered and would have burst if someone so much as farted near it.

This is the only logical explanation I'm affraid.

Yeah sounds like the burst disk was F****d. My mate was driving along at the weekend and for no apparent reason the burst disk blew. Actually, it might have something to do with him putting 20 oz`s of co2 into a 12 oz bottle, o thats gonna leave a scar....
Did you happen to leave it near a heater at all?

it is poss in theory if atmospheric conditions change for the pressure in a bottle to spike and may cause a burst disk to go,

was it sat in sunlight? that could have easily done it....best bet is stick it under your bed....much more constant temp
