Bringing an old gun out if retirement.

So, new to paintball and looking for a marker, naturally a mate of my dads has a market he really ought to sell, would I be interested...

It's a merlin mayhem, also sold in the u.s as the nighthawk.

It's a nice looking pump action job, but can this marker of the 90's have any use in the current game of pump action paintball? Discuss.

Nothing wrong with using an old gun. They can be outgunned on firepower, but that's the joy of pump, and if it's a pump game then all are on a fairly level field

To bring an old gun back to life may take some tlc, fresh o-rings etc

I think I'll give it the tlc & keep it as a novelty anyway will have to dig it out & have a nosey.

fix it up, gas it up, load it and give it a go... old markers are more fun...and i have has less problems with my old marker (1991) then i have has with my Tippmann A5

Can never go wrong with an older pump. Put a derlin bolt in, lighter springs and a good barrel kit with regulator and you'll be set!

its fixed barrel isn't it? If so I'd suggest the "fishing line md" to stop ball rolling out when pointing down hill. Here's an example of how to do it:

Standard Nelspot clones can still cut it on the paintball field. As long as it's functional, leak free and you can still source any parts for repairs... give it a go. Some early pumps were not internally adjustable for velocity, which makes them a pain to set up, as you have to resort to spring swapping and shimming.

I remember the Merlin Mayhem from playing in the '90's, brings back memories! Great gun then, well sought after so I can only assume that it'll still be half decent now.
