hi all
first of all thanks to all the teams that supported the first leg, i hope you enjoyed your day. results will be posted by scott as soon as he has calculated them, i would like to thank scott and the marshals for their efforts, we had a few teething problems which we hope to have sorted for the next leg, i must take my hat off to any person who runs an event of any kind, i thought i had all the angles covered but today threw a few curve balls at me and i dont mean paintballs!
The marshals
As a rule you will have a mix of experianced marshals and a couple of new ones, however we tried to train up 6 new marshals from the watford reform crew to give them the chance to earn money to help finance their 2011 season and also to give them a respect for what a hard job a marshal has, so only scott had previous experiance, all in all i think they did a good job, ok there were a few rough calls, and they seemed to me to be affraid of making the calls in case it was the wrong one, after the event we had a debrief and they all said they had learned alot, so i would ask you to give them time to develop and improve.
The rosta
We ran the games in line with the NSPL/MILLENIUM and they ran close to time, we will after discussions with some teams try and run a traditional race to 2 format with the 2 min turnaround for the next leg and also have a traditional 5 man div as well,
review in general
i was pleased with today, i need to address certain issues, but all in all i think the first event went well.
now it's your turn give us your thoughts
thanks
yorkie

As posted elsewhere

Having played today - the scheduling worked fine. Really blinding day - friendly team, pretty good reffing and a few superb results for my lads. Chuffed to bits! The astro is plaing great now it's settled down and as long as you dnt't try to superman into the snake! Big thanks to Defiance for their support when we were left well short, and massive thanks to Kent from Custom PB for a free set of shirts for us all after we beat Shock 3!
Reffing was a good standard - some disputable calls, but there always are. Scott was approachable as head ref, and we had no issues - although one shock player had to be helped to collect all his toys off the field, which was dealt with well by the refs... Yorkie was an excellent host, and the other teams were all friendly and helpful.
A couple of small issues - the air station was a little small, and would need to be bigger when more teams are attending, and Yorkie really needs to persuade the Highways agency to get rid of the works on the M25.

Also - I made a big **** up on the deposit, and Yorkie could not have been more helpful, when he would have been well within his rights to tell me to F'off!

Not a Dye shooter myself, but did get to have a natter. Nice bloke - any chance of a Bob Long Tech next time? LOL!

PS any word on the results, the suspense is killing me!
