Please help

I am trying to get the air bottle off my marker, but it seems to be stuck. It's a screw-on AA Melee.

I have been trying to use multi-grips, but it still won't move, and I'm afraid that if I put the marker in a vice and use pliers taht something's gonna break.

Any suggestions?

Thats asuming the bottle isn't already empty :)

If it is empty and still stuck I wouldn't be using pliers on it. Maybe put one of the big Boas' around the bottle and try unscrewing it that way :) also assuming the bottle is empty and firmly attached to the reg... apart from that I got no ideas. Hopefully the reg hasn't cross threaded into the asa or that would be quite a pain in the arse :(

thanks, but...

I thought of the pressure first, and now the bottle is empty.

It is still stuck (similar feeling to a cross thread):(

Anyone else got suggestions?

For the time being, I'm just gonna leave it all assembled.

Those oil-filter strap wrenches seem to do a good job of taking bottles off - a couple of quid from B&Q, looks like a plastic handle with a big strip of rubber that wraps around your bottle and locks in place. Worth having one in your toolbox if you have to take your bottle off regularly... :D

Have you tried taking the main reg of the gun, with stuck bottle, and then removing the melee from the bottle valve? Use a Boa as suggested on the bottle and with some help, a big f~ck off wrench around the flat bits on the melee.
Is all the air out of the tank, I know you said its empty, but could theer be some residual preassure, not enough to cycle the marker, but enough to keep the bottle tight?
failing all others. call John on the number in my sig, he assembles the Melee regs in the UK, he might fix it for you, probably just for postage, he's nice like that, or go see him if your near Essex.
If the regs are knackerd, get the bottle off anyway coz thats the expensive bit!
