I'm not sure you're quite correct there Jon. HSE bottles can still be sold by retailers provided they were "placed the market" before 30 May 2002. The definition of "placed on the market " is "passed through the manufacturers factory gates thus entering the supply chain".Originally posted by L J
HSE/PI ones ONLY
and HSE ones are no longer allowed to be sold from new (retail from shops) but can be sold 2nd hand still and can be retested until the end of their life (15 years)

So if a retailer took a supply of 100 HSE bottles from a manufacturer before 30 May 2002 but had not sold them all yet then they are still quite legal to sell because they were placed on the market' before the PER (Pressure Equipment Regulations 1999) came into force. (There was a transitionary period between 1999 and May 2002 to give manufacturers time to comply with the new regulations).
Well thats how i read it anyways...what do you think??
Some bedtime reading...!!
