Bottle & reg query

Stupid question probably for most.

I have just bought a new 1.1 CE fibre bottle, and ordered a 4500 screw in reg (nitroduck x-stream). The last one I bought was the bottle & reg together (already attached).

Am just wondering if I just screw the two of them together and that will hold together? Or do I add some loctite to the reg threads to fix the two together, or do I do something completely different

Any help as always appreciated.

bottle to reg

I have an angel air system, and the bottle is just screwed on to the reg by hand. I was a bit concerned but that is the norm so i have been told.

Yeah I used to screw my angel air in by hand as well. My only concern though is this is a screw in, therefore may unscrew the bottle from the reg when taking it off the asa. At least with the angel air you don't unscrew it from the marker :)

On my last nitroduck it seemed really tight, bottle and reg seemed as one as if glued/loctited :)

You seem to get a different opinion depending on who you ask, but when I install regs into bottles (both pre-set screw-ins and adjustables) I always put a small dab of 'blue' (removable with handtools) loctite on the threads.

Not caused me any problems so far <touches wood> :)

I put presets together with a spot of blue loctite, which will hopefully discourage the tank from separating from the reg, in preference to the reg from the gun. Of course, given the forces involved, I don't know if the loctite actually makes any noticeable difference :D

personally i would avoid it as the pressure in the bottle should hold it on, also any loctite in the thread could be a prob with testing the bottle?

my best advise would be to email jack at planet and ask his advise on this, or maybe ask hpac?

Don't bother with the loctite, it's just a pain in the @ss if you ever want to get the bottle off the reg.
With air in the bottle, your reg shouldn't move.
It's an awfully long thread, if you keep an eye on your air system, you will notice if it does move.
I do not believe that having your bottle accidentally unscrew is even something you should worry about; it's so unlikely to happen.

Ahhh the conflicting opinions :)

Cheers for the advice lads. Have decided not to put anything on it for the time being, unless it does start unscrewing :)

Cheers again

Dave, I rate the X-Stream, have one and ordered another, just waiting for it to arrive.

I don't use any loctite just screw the bottle on. If you want to take the whole air system off, just do it carefully. Doesn't come undone easily when gassed up.

Have sold both my A.I.R.s and a geddon. X-Stream all the way. ;)
