Ive got a 4.5k tank that was a friend of mine's and just need to get some questions answered
The only date i can find on it is printed onto the material of the bottle and says 2006\08. Now is that its born date or its death date. And how regularly are bottles supposed to be tested. Dont really want to go using it if its likely to blow up in my face

That will be the start date, if its been retested there should be another sticker saying the the retested date and possibly paperwork with the bottle.

Depending the name of the bottle it's 3-5 years between tests

The most expensive part of testing is sending the cylinder to or from the test centre.
HPAC are the default experts for paintball air and if you meet them at an event collect at a later event then you can pay just the test fee itself.

Most paintball retailers provide a service, but unless you can get to the shop then there is still the postage issue.

If you can't arrange handing it over/collecting then local dive centres can often arrange it
