Bore size - current thinking

Gudmann

huh ?
So what is the current thinking on bore size.

Try to get as best of a fit for accuracy and shot to shot consistancy using barrel kits with variable bore backs or inserts.....

or

It's accuracy by volume anyway and refills on the HPA for each game so it's best not to get any barrel breaks from that odd bigger ball in the batch and use a big bore barrel, .693 or .695 at all times....

Depends...for a cocker, I'd go with a barrel kit, as the paint might roll out of the breech if the barrel is too big.

If its an open bolt, or you dont mind the occasional cocker dryfire, then stay with a Boomstick or Ultralite or something of that caliber (of quality). If you only use one type of paint, just make sure it agrees with your one barrel choice.

In my opinion, if you throw enough paint in a general direction, it will hit something. Buy one good barrel, and shoot; alot. :D

i tend to sling all my paint through a large bore barrel and it never gives me any bother. at the end of the day it is a paintball gun and not a sniper rifle. you are never going to get pinpoint accuracy due to the nature of a liquid filled object flying through the air.

the modern game necessitates dominance by fire rates and quantities of paint in the air, so why bother with getting an extra 50 shots by paint to barrel match when you refill between games anyway?

consistancy is the key...

Use whichever barrel gives you best chrono readings as that's accuracy right there, efficiency isn't important anymore (really)

Anyway for me, that's nearly always been by using large bore barrels.

Plus, the prospect of having to squeegee mid game because of one outsized ball and screwing up the rest of the shots, sux. I'd much prefer to know that paint will come out the front every shot.

Yeh same here. I was using a J&J ceramic on my angel for the first time yestreday. Its a big wide bore, didnt break a single ball all tourney, and it seems if u squeeze a ball down the tube it can spin off anyway. Big bore all the way.
