It's true that the boomy is a great barrel (hell, I got a few).
The problem is that even a great barrel will be worthless if the paint to barrel match is bad. Therefore I'd say go for the freak. It'll give you great flexibility, and as far as accuracy is concerned it's up to par with the boomer.
Should you get a boomer I'd recommend the Stainless Steel.

Hmm which way to go.

Right then...... Here goes

First off with a boomstick if your comparing both side by side you need to be thinking of buying three to four boomsticks to compete. Now we're talking about barrels sets/ systems!

Freak: 8 inserts, will fit paint perfectly regardless of what you buy and shoot, compared to the boomstick pretty good price wise.

Boomstick: Spanking gourgous, shoots like a dream, very accurate. Titanium obviously lighter but hellishly expensive!!

Overall a boomstick with perfect matching paint is the most accurate barrel i have ever shot.
However for versatility a freak wins everytime.

I love both and own both (for different markers) But i got to admit there's just something classy about using a boomstick!!

Hope that helps!!

8 inserts really aren't all that necessary. 3 or 4 different bores are about all you'll need if you keep with one or two brands of paint and play in roughly the same weather. I have an Ultralite, which is just like a Boomstick but lighter and cheaper, and have absolutely nothing to complain about. If you choose to go with a set of DYE's, that's what I suggest rather than going with a stainless boomstick. Titanium? Heck no. Aside from being expensive, they react with nitrogen and corrode, rendering them considerably less useful over the long run.

I remember seeing that exact same argument in some thread a loooong time ago, so I shall quote him as best I can "Why would DYE be stupid enough to make a barrel that expensive that won't interact with what every tournament player uses?"

nooooo not again

please not that question! i can already see the techheads coming out of the woodwork in delight so they can argue this age old question again...it's like summoning demons. :p
p.s can somebody actually get in touch with someone who works at oxford or something so we don't have to go through this again!

JW mate the Freak is definitely worth the money. I used to use a Boomer and once the paint wasn't matched it was $hit! One barrel break and you are done. The freak was a little more forgiving with barrel breaks but they are rare when you have the choice of inserts! :D
