Bolt lengths... ooh errr

Well since you lot are so very helpful this evening, I have another question for you:

I am looking to repace a bolt in my (Waay old) cocker, from here on known as BOF (Bride Of Frankenstein). I have been offered one that is 130mm long. My current bolt is 134mm, will those extra 4 mm make any difference? The bolt is conseiderably newer than the gun, will there be any compaability issues

Many thanks

Richard

134mm is the length for pre-2000 model year cockers.

In 2000 they shortened the bolt. If you want to use the shorter bolt, you can simply get a post 2000 back-block.

Why do you want to change your bolt? Could it be that someone is trying to take your milk money?

G3- Indeed

Yes I'm the one with the G3. Yes I am thinking about upgrading it (getting rid of it, because I have not heard a good word for it yet...).

So am I right in saying that simply putting in a post 2000 cocker bolt would be a bad idea?

All I need is a post 2000 back block and then all will be ok (except it will loose some of its old skool look... ah well I've already dubbed it Bride of Frankenstein).

Thanks

Richard

Is the G3 the one that's kinda springy in the middle? (extends/shortens type springy)? Not suprised you wanna get rid of it ;)

If I were you Rich, I'd save up yo beer tokens* and speak to Sparklie about a Jam bolt - they well worth it! :D

*and remember I've witnessed the drinking prowess of the DUPS up at 6E so I know just how much (little?) y'all usually spend on the drink ;) :p

No DUPS...

Sadly the DUPS didn't play, there were a couple of us there, we were guesting.

Hey Flash! Cheap-shot!

Yes the G£ is the one with the spring, and despite its very cool back piece (swirly effect), I have not heard a good word for it yet.

Have heard rumous about a the Jambolt, but how much are they? I'd guess that with a new back-block would be doubling the price I payed for BOF.

Ah well, I'm thining about buying this second hand stuff offered to me. But I'd need a new back-block yes?

Thanks

Richard

Cheap shot? me? actually, yeah, that was quite a low blow, considering how late we'd kept y'all awake the previous night, then how early we'd woken you up ;) :p

As for the price of a Jam bolt - I cant be certain, best bet would be to email Sparklie. I do know that they come in all sorts of different lengths, so you should be able to keep your current back block.
I seem to remember that they're a little on the expensive side for a bolt, but when you consider the performance benefits, they're well worth it - they're certainly cheaper then a mag level 10 kit anyways.
