Diamond Wars Season 2, Episode 3 Report.
The Diamond War Continues…
With an earlier start to previous battles, this reporter had an exclusive ticket to The White Flag Meeting that was called in the NPF Neutral Zone. The image of this meeting will be planted in my head for a LONG time.
The Meeting saw Commanders from The Hoffmann Minex Corporation (HMC), a large organisation based in Berlin and the United States Diamond Exports (USDE, Headquarters unknown) meeting for the second time with ‘The Brain’. Commanders P.Scott and Bright Sword, led by Col Mayo of the USDE arrived early, and were later joined by Drask Hoffmann, with Sgt Scooby and acting Sgt Cannon. An uncanny collection of characters sat quietly while the Brain spoke, opening communications between the two mighty Corporations.
The weather was bright and warm, unlike the atmosphere at the negotiations. These negotiations were interrupted at the introduction from The Brain of uncut Blood Diamonds, with an unprecedented move; Cmdr Bright Sword drew his sabre in an attempt on Drask Hoffmann’s life, claiming that Mr Hoffmann was reaching for a firearm. The talks were called off and the Commanders were led away back to their waiting Forces, by The Brain’s Elitists.
1030h came, and I followed the USDE troops to their Field Hospital, where they were prepping for battle. The tension was growing, as news of the HMC’s HQ move had reached the USDE. This move disturbed the USDE’s plans of attack, due to the fact that the HMC’s new HQ’s location was now unknown. Not to give up so early, the USDE were unleashed into the warzone at 1045h, heading towards the village of Obmar to carry out their first mission.
On the other side of the Jungles Westumbo City was alive with Hoffmann troops, who were in the process of carrying out their first mission. Both armies managed to locate their Blood Money and returned it to the safe hands of their Commanders, successfully completing their tasks.
With resources running low early in the battle, the HMC attempted to storm the Oil Depot situated in USDE land. Their attempt failed, as they came under contact with a heavy guard of US troops, based at the Oil Depot. Hoffmann casualties were high leaving the USDE victorious in this contact with the enemy.
A short while after this skirmish, a HMC transport helicopter was shot down in the Jungle Sector. Chasing after the smoke trail left by the helicopter, a HMC scout team headed at a steady pace through the Jungle. Finding the burning wreckage, they began to rig explosives to demolish the remains so that nothing could fall into the USDE’s hands. Unfortunately, they were beaten there by USDE troops, and yet again, the HMC were ambushed. The USDE were ruthless and wiped out all the HMC soldiers.
A command was issued by Drask Hoffmann to the HMC troops to re-organise in Westumbo City. This re-org proved a valuable move and Drask began to set his army straight, along with the newly hired henchman, known as ‘Moz’. The HMC set up a sturdy base defence, and began sending scouting parties out into the main battlefield.
At Comms Tower 2, movement in the woodlands triggered the attention of the HMC, and a fire fight broke out. Cmdr Bright Sword, intent on disrupting the HMC’s comms used this fire fight as a distraction and set charges at the base of the Comms Tower, sending it crashing to the ground. Shortly after the USDE evacuated out, Col Mayo’s timed Air Strike arrived, shattering the Comms Tower’s area with explosives, which was a wasted hit, as the area was already cleared.
The area between the HMC and the USDE HQ’s: the O.D. Base became the theatre for a large battle, shortly after the fall of Comms Tower 2. In a successful attempt on pushing the USDE back, the HMC garrisoned Watch Tower 6. The fire fight that broke out between Watch Tower’s 5 and 6 was immense, with ammo flying through the air giving a high number of casualties on the HMC’s forces, but more so on the USDE who’s casualty toll was greater than any seen in the conflict so far. Ending up out numbered 20 to 1, the one being Private Alan Parts of the USDE, the HMC stormed Watch Tower 5 and wiped the USDE out.
Needing to get their forces together again, Col Mayo and Commander Bright Sword ordered the USDE forces to fall back to Obmar Village. Cmdr Scott however, was missing. Not to be distracted by Cmdr Scott’s absence, the USDE set out to the Oil Depot to collect jerry cans to top their vehicles up. This pickup went successfully, however the couriers failed to halt at the quarantine tape, and were shot by local militia and their precious fuel was stolen.
During the following hours, HMC scouts were deployed onto the USDE base to collect Intel. They gathered a large report on the goings on in the USDE base, however, on their withdrawal; they were caught in the middle of a fire fight and eliminated.
Determined not to be forced back in the Jungles, a squad of US troops advanced towards Westumbo, they were met by a fire team of HMC troops at Bridge 8 that were heading towards the USDE’s Water Tower. These HMC Foot Soldiers swiftly ambushed and took out any attacking troops in a frenzied skirmish. The HMC then proceeded towards the Water Tower to destroy the USDE’s supply. A few explosives made short work of the water tower.
In retaliation to the Water Tower destruction: the USDE began a full scale assault on the HMC’s HQ in Westumbo. Across the battlefield, we saw the USDE pushing through the O.D. Base eliminating the HMC on the way. Unfortunately, the HMC’s defence of Westumbo, was too great for the USDE to attack, leaving a stalemate around the City Limits. During this heavy contact, however, Col. Mayo managed to decipher a code given by The Brain.
This code gave the USDE Colonel the rumoured location of a large cache of Blood Diamonds. Col. Mayo sent his fastest scout, Cpl Blakeway to search and retrieve the loot. Running low on time, Mayo then ordered an airlift for the Cpl to give him safe passage back to the USDE HQ, this move proved invaluable, as a HMC attack group were nearly on the US Base.
The battle ended at a stalemate at both Headquarters.
Throughout the day the HMC managed a mighty $210,000,000 by completing missions, holding and controlling tactical areas, collecting Diamond Ore Crates, completing sniper missions, and gathering intel.
The USDE, although having a slow start, managed a Whopping $306,000,000 by doing more of the above, but also selling the retrieved cache of Uncut Diamonds to the Brain for $50,000,000.
The USDE also spent $10,000,000 on an airlift, and a further $10,000,000 on an airstrike.
Both forces received fines for ‘Hot’ Guns
Overall, after spending, the series standing are: $671,000,000 to the Hoffmann Minex Corporation and $775,000,000 to the United States Diamond Exports.
The gap is getting dangerously larger for the Hoffmann Minex Corporation. Will the U.S. Diamond Exports use their cash advantage to invest in victory? How will the Drask Hoffmann react to their current losing streak?
